Important
Information Regarding BlueCross BlueShield of
Florida
In
an effort to ensure that all our covered members with BlueCross
BlueShield are aware of the additional benefits the carrier provides,
we’d like to outline some important numbers and facts about our health
plan.
This will help our members get the most out of their health plan
and answer some questions you may have.
BlueCross
BlueShield uses a company called Prime as their pharmaceutical vendor.
Please note that you, as a member, can contact them at anytime 24
hours a day at 877.357.7463.
They will confirm which tier your medication falls under and help
identify if your particular medication requires a pre-authorization
before you have your medication dispensed.
Prime will also advise you if your medication is eligible for
their mail order service which will provide a cost savings to you.
Should your medication require a pre-authorization, simply have
your physician’s office contact the Prime number for physicians at 888.877.6323.
Your physician will provide them with the necessary information
needed to assist in getting your medication dispensed.
Some
of the most common medications that require a pre-authorization include
but are not limited to:
Lipitor, Crestor, Nexium, Lamisil, Xolair, Sporanox, Norditropin,
Enbrel and Zyvox.
In
addition, we’d like you to be aware of BlueCross BlueShield’s Away
From Home Care program.
This program enables both you and your family dependents to
continue to receive coverage in the case that you need to leave the
state for at least 90 consecutive days.
Please contact the number on your membership card and advise them
of your location and you’ll be placed under their Guest Membership
Program.
Finally,
we’d like all our members to be aware of the additional benefits
provided to you for being a member of BlueCross BlueShield.
Below are just a few of the many services available to you and
your covered family dependents.
These benefits include:
Weight management discounts including Jenny Craig and Nutrisystem.
Eye exams, glasses and contact lenses discounts at participating
vendors such as Walmart, JCPenny and Sears Optical.
Vitamins, supplements, acupuncturists and dieticians discounts of
25% and if you’re traveling, discounts are available at Westin and
Fairmont Hotels.
