Chapter 125 May the Light Be With You
Chapter 125 May the Light Be With You
When Lilith came out of the animal house, her face turned green. It was the first time she knew that when a large number of cockroaches gathered together to eat, they could make a rustling sound like silkworms. When Lilith recalled that sound, she couldn't help but shudder and shake off the goose bumps all over her body.
After completing the extracurricular homework that Lady Terra seemed to have specially left for her as a desensitization training, Lilith wandered aimlessly around the campus. On normal weekends like this, she would either have dinner and play games with her classmates at home, or practice fighting skills with Ian at school.
Ian...even if I meet him, what should I say to him?
Lilith raised her head in annoyance and sighed, looking up at the sky, and then naturally saw the giant tower standing in the east of the academy, and paused. She thought for a moment and walked towards the direction of the Stargazing Castle.
Teacher Jacqueline and other teachers were drinking and playing cards in the courtyard. When they saw Lilith coming, they kindly pulled her over to chat for a while.
"Oh dear, you look so energetic." Teacher Jacqueline was as kind as ever, looking at Lilith as if she were looking at her own grandchild, "You have grown taller."
"Thank you, teacher. You look great, too." The lightning marks on half of Teacher Jacqueline's body were like strange totems, adding a touch of extraordinary temperament to this loving lady, making her look mysterious and powerful.
"You look a little confused, dear." Teacher Jacqueline's eyes were full of wisdom, as if she could see into Lilith's heart. "Follow your heart, child." She winked at Lilith playfully, raised her glass to her, and drank it all.
Lilith nodded in confusion, said goodbye to several teachers, and headed towards the top floor of the Stargazing Castle.
The observatory was empty during the day. The boy's prayer poem echoed in the huge round dome, solemn and dignified. The sunlight shone on his body, outlining a golden outline, like a blessing from holy light.
Ian knelt on his knees with his forehead pressed against the ground, facing the direction of the Temple of Light in Highgarden, as if he wanted to closely connect his soul with the temple. His pious expression seemed as if all the troubles in the world had left him. At this moment, there was only awe and prayer for the God of Light in his heart.
That's right, how could someone who used to be a knight of light not believe in light... Lilith watched quietly at the stairs. Although she didn't care about anything about the God of Light, she was also affected by the sacred religious atmosphere in front of her and did not speak for a long time.
Ian chanted in a low voice over and over again until the sun was low and almost hanging on the horizon. The red afterglow that shone from the horizon was even more dazzling than the sunlight during the day. Perhaps because he knew that teachers and students would come up soon, Ian, who was practicing asceticism, finally stopped, staggered to his feet, shook his legs that had been kneeling for too long, and turned around.
"...Lilith." Only then did Ian see Lilith standing still.
"When I was a child, I often went to church to sing, and I was the leader." Lilith walked to Ian's side, looked at the houses and pedestrians that became smaller under her feet, and talked to him about past memories.
"You must sing very well." Ian also turned and looked out the window, looking at the rushing Minsna River and the white city in the distance.
"Maybe. Anyway, Lord Austinton is very satisfied. He said that I am..." Lilith's eyes flashed. She was no longer a person favored by God, so she changed the subject, "What do you think about when you pray, Ian."
"Nothing," Ian answered quickly. "Praying makes me feel peaceful and relaxed."
"Don't you pray for God to respond? Do you ever feel Him responding to you?"
"We shouldn't ask the gods, Lilith." Ian said softly. He didn't want to talk more about this topic. Lilith's question seemed a bit blasphemous to him, but that was Lilith...
It seemed that his impulsive behavior was not guided by God. Lilith silently crossed out this possibility in her heart.
"Everyone is actually very worried about you..." Lilith said hesitantly, "Bobby apologized for his reaction that day. He said he was just scared for a moment and didn't mean to distance himself from you. I, we all think you are not that kind of person, Ian, we can still be like before..."
"I did it." Ian's voice seemed to come from the bottom of a deep valley, with a heavy sigh, and each word seemed to drag a lead block, heavy and slow. "I did do that, and I never thought of hiding it from you, Lilith."
Lilith heard the confession she least wanted to hear and froze in place.
"You, are you trying to protect yourself?" It took Lilith a long time to find her voice.
But Ian shook his head.
"revenge?"
The answer is still no.
"Is the other party a very evil person?" Lilith proposed the fourth possibility.
"No, he might be a good man." However, Ian crushed her fantasy. "...I think that is the best outcome for him, so I did it. I believe the God of Light will forgive me."
"You?! You have no right to decide the length of other people's lives, Ian." Lilith couldn't believe it, and her voice became much louder. This was why she hated religion, especially monotheism. All actions seemed to have a high-sounding reason when they were given religious connotations.
"I'm sorry, Lilith." However, Ian just apologized in a gentle manner, "That was God's guidance. He went to the Father God. From now on, he will be satisfied and happy."
Lilith was speechless as she looked at the compassion and piety in Ian's eyes. A chill slowly crept up her back, and the two of them remained silent for a long while.
"Lilith, you're always like this..." Ian noticed a bird feather on Lilith's head, which must have been picked up when she went to the animal house. He raised his hand, wanting to help Lilith brush it off, but the girl subconsciously took a step back, causing his hand to freeze in the air.
"…Sorry, Lilith." Ian apologized again and took his hand back.
"May the light be with you." Ian left this blessing and left quietly.
