Chapter 266 Be Yourself First
Chapter 266 Be Yourself First
Rongyue and Li Xin arrived at their grandfather's house and happened to see guests at home. Grandpa and Mo Chen's father were chatting with them in the living room.
"I remember that when Xiaoyi was little, she always chased Mo Chen to play! If our family hadn't moved away when Xiaoyi was so young, these two children might have been able to be successful!"
"Why not now!" a girl's pleasant voice.
"What nonsense are you talking about? Your brother Mo Chen already has a child!"
"That's because he's not married and I'm not married yet, so everything is possible!" The girl's voice was filled with stubbornness.
"You kid...don't talk nonsense in front of your grandfather and uncle." An older lady gently scolded the girl.
Grandpa and Gong Yixunran were also smiling.
When Grandpa saw Rongyue and Li Xin, the smile on his face became even more intense, and he stood up to greet them.
"Rongyue and Xiaoxin are here!"
"Brother Li Xin!"
A girl hurried over, and when she saw Li Xin calling for help, she hugged Li Xin.
Li Xin patted the girl in his arms and said, "Wow, Xiaoyi has grown so big!"
"I'm only a few years younger than you! How can you say that you are an adult and I am like a child?" The girl let go of Li Xin, looked up at Li Xin, with a smile on her face.
Rongyue glanced at the girl. She was indeed young and pretty. Although she said that she was not young anymore, her face still had the innocence and liveliness of a little girl. She looked like a little princess who was raised very well by her parents. Rongyue was reminded of Li Yuyan. She had the same feeling when she first met Yuyan.
"Who is this sister?" The girl turned and looked at Rongyue.
"Hello, I'm Nangong Rongyue." Rongyue looked at the girl with a smile.
The girl looked at Rongyue and then at Li Xin. She smiled at Rongyue and said, "That's Sister Rongyue. My name is Qin Huaiyi. You can just call me Xiaoyi."
Rongyue smiled and looked at her grandfather. "Grandpa, I had something to discuss with you today. If you are busy, I will come another day."
"No rush, let's go to the study." Grandpa extended his hand towards Rongyue.
Rongyue held grandpa's hand and supported him.
Qin Huaiyi looked at Rongyue in confusion, because she had never seen Grandpa Gong Yi be so intimate with any girl. But then she thought again, she had never been back from abroad, so maybe her childhood memory was distorted.
Rongyue glanced at Li Xin.
"You go ahead. My uncle and I are here. And I haven't seen Xiaoyi for a long time." Li Xin smiled at Rongyue.
Rongyue turned to look at Gong Yixunran. Gong Yixunran stood up and looked at Rongyue with a smile.
"Uncle." Rongyue looked at Gong Yixunran.
Gong Yi walked up to Rongyue and said, "It feels like I haven't seen you for a long time. I saw the news that you won the award a few days ago, and I wanted you to come and celebrate with us."
Rongyue looked at Gong Yixunran's friendly smile and felt warm in her heart. Every time she came, her grandfather and Gong Yixunran were especially kind to her, making her feel like she was not an outsider.
"Thank you, uncle. It's just an award. There's no need to celebrate."
"That's also a happy event. Let's have dinner together later!" Grandpa patted Rongyue's hand.
Rongyue nodded.
"Then Rongyue and I will go to the study first, you guys chat here first." After saying that, Grandpa took Rongyue back to the study.
"Is there anything you want to discuss with Grandpa?"
Rongyue helped grandpa sit down.
"I was thinking of letting Xiaochu and Xiaoyu stay with you for a while longer. It might take a few months." Rongyue sat opposite her grandfather.
"That's of course no problem. I'll be happier if you all move back and live with me!" Grandpa looked at Rongyue with a smile.
Rongyue also smiled.
"Do you have any plans?"
"Well, I want to live abroad for a while. Actually, I want to attend an art exchange conference, but I am not good at the language. I want to learn the language first, and I also need to prepare works for the conference. So I want to adapt first."
"That's a good thing!" Grandpa's eyes lit up. "Where can we go to communicate?"
"It's quite a coincidence, actually. It's the school I should have been recommended to go to. My teacher thinks it can make up for the regret of not being able to go to school. I think so too."
"Okay, that's great. Your teacher is right. You have talent and shouldn't have been buried for so long. You work hard and you really love painting. We all see that. Rongyue, just do what you like and don't worry."
Rongyue looked at her grandfather and nodded seriously.
"The children are under our care, so just go ahead and have fun! Create a world of your own and become someone you are proud of. That will be your lifelong confidence."
Grandpa shook Rongyue's hand.
"You haven't discovered your excellence yet! So sometimes you are always cautious and worry too much. When you really accomplish what you want to do, you will have support in your heart, and many things will naturally be solved."
Rongyue listened to her grandfather's words. She held his hand and was very grateful to him in her heart. Everything he said was right. She had been cautious from the beginning to the end. She was timid and had always felt insecure. It was all because the fulcrum of her heart had never been herself. It used to be her grandmother and Huahua, then it was Mo Chen, and now it was the two children.
"Grandpa believes you can do it! Come on!"
Grandpa thought for a moment and said, "When are we leaving? I'll arrange things for you there first, and then you can go."
"Grandpa, I'll make the arrangements myself. It can be considered as a way to train myself. After Grandpa Li Xin's birthday, I'll leave after I've completed my formalities."
Grandpa nodded and said, "If you need anything, just tell me. No matter where you are, I will help you as soon as possible."
Rongyue nodded, "Thank you, Grandpa."
"Grandpa should be thanking you. The Gong Yi family has been an only child for generations. Who is as lucky as me to have two babies, Xiaoyu and Xiaochu? This is all the good fortune that our Rongyue has brought to Grandpa! So, you have to be well too!"
Rongyue smiled and hesitated for a moment.
"Grandpa, since I have decided to pursue my own ideals first, then... I want to put aside the emotional aspect for now. I don't want to involve too much energy. So, Mo Chen... can you help me persuade him not to focus all his energy on me?"
"You two... aren't together yet?" Grandpa frowned and looked at Rongyue.
Rongyue shook her head, "I don't think we are the best people to be together..."
Grandpa frowned and looked at Rongyue. "Suitable? What do you mean suitable?"
"..." Rongyue was silent for a moment. "From the beginning, I felt that our relationship was destined not to last. No matter what the reason was, the result was the same as I expected. Although Mo Chen had his reasons, I was very touched and grateful to him. However, I was really hurt, but I let it go."
Grandpa looked at Rongyue, he could see the sadness in her eyes.
"Rongyue, you two are adults, and you both have your own ideas. Grandpa can't persuade you, let alone Mo Chen. If I could persuade him, he wouldn't have resolutely left you to do that thing. He has always been a person who makes his own decisions."
Rongyue sighed softly.
"You two have to deal with emotional matters yourselves. Whether you will be with Mo Chen in the end, grandpa hopes that you will follow your inner thoughts. I will be happy if you live a good life. But you have to remember that grandpa has always loved Rongyue the most. In my heart, you are the most suitable person to be my granddaughter-in-law." Grandpa smiled and patted Rongyue.
Grandpa’s words were like a warm current that enveloped Rongyue’s heart.
After having dinner at grandfather's house, Li Xin and Rongyue returned home. Li Xin parked the car and watched Rongyue get out of the car. He got out and caught up with Rongyue.
"Are you really not going to the hospital to see Mo Chen?" Li Xin looked at Rong Yue.
"I'm not going. You go." Rongyue pressed the elevator button without looking at Li Xin.
"Rongyue, what's wrong with you? Why are you suddenly treating him like this? What did he do wrong?" Li Xin grabbed Rongyue.
Li Xin just felt that Rongyue suddenly became much colder towards Mo Chen, but when they were together, he could see that Rongyue cared about Mo Chen. He didn't understand why there was this sudden change.
Rongyue hesitated for a moment, but decided to tell Li Xin what she was thinking.
"Li Xin, I know you think Mo Chen and I can still be together. You have been helping Mo Chen, but have you ever thought about whether I am willing?"
"You don't want to?" Li Xin frowned and looked at Rongyue.
"I do not want to!"
Li Xin looked at Rongyue's determined expression. He was a little surprised and speechless for a moment.
Rongyue could see the confusion in Li Xin's eyes.
"I don't think we are suitable for each other. Whether it's because of my personal reasons or because of the entanglement between the Nangong family and the Gong Yi family, I have no confidence in this relationship."
"In fact, I am a person who is particularly afraid of losing, because I don't have much to begin with. If I try my best to get it, and then lose it, it would be no different from stabbing my heart repeatedly."
Rongyue sighed and calmed the sob in her throat.
"If Mo Chen hadn't left me, and had let me face all the problems with him, as long as I could be with him, death wouldn't matter. I'd never been afraid."
Li Xin looked at Rongyue. She lowered her eyes and tried to hold back the tears. She seemed to be recalling the past. Her whole body was shrouded in great sorrow.
"But he didn't..."
"He just left me like that..."
Rongyue suddenly thought of the time when Mo Chen had just left, the sleepless nights she had tossed and turned alone, and the beautiful moments she had with Mo Chen, which kept emerging in her mind. What was honey to him was now poison to her, and it hurt so much that she had difficulty breathing, so much so that she tried her best to erase the memory of them.
"In fact, I never blamed him for leaving me."
Rongyue smiled self-deprecatingly and closed her eyes. Tears instantly slid down her face and she raised her hand to wipe away the tears.
"You may not be able to understand, but I think... he has the right to leave me..." Rongyue's voice was shaking.
"Rongyue..." Li Xin looked at Rongyue with heartache. He wanted to hug her and drive away all her sadness.
Rongyue took a step back and raised her hand to stop Li Xin. "I don't mean to make you pity me. I just want to ask you not to help Mo Chen anymore."
"I admit it! I get shaken when I see him! But I hate my shaking!"
"I'm even more afraid! I'm afraid that the pain will rip my heart and bones apart again, and I can't bear it."
After Rongyue finished speaking, she raised her hand to wipe away her tears and entered the elevator.
Li Xin looked at Rongyue, she wiped her tears stubbornly, afraid of others approaching her. He had seen it before, and he felt distressed and helpless. He knew she could digest these emotions and return to the gentle and bright Rongyue the next day, but she had to bear the pain in the process alone. It was not that she didn't feel pain, but she was not good at expressing it to others.
Li Xin watched the elevator door close. Every time at this moment he felt powerless. He wanted to give her time, but he was also worried.
Li Xin turned around, took out a cigarette and lit it. When he raised his eyes, he saw Mo Chen who had just got off the car in the distance.
