Chapter 134 Reality and Dreams
Chapter 134 Reality and Dreams
Hua Qingmeng sat solemnly by the bed, looking at Ye Xinghe. Her mournful cries, in the dead of night, sounded like the wails of demons from hell.
By this time, his anger had completely vanished. He leaned closer to Ye Xinghe and whispered in her ear, "Xinghe, wake up. Don't be afraid, I'm here with you."
"Please...kill me...please...let me die..." Ye Xinghe's body trembled, tears streaming down her face. Suddenly, her hands began to flailing wildly in the air. Hua Qingmeng reached out his arm, and Ye Xinghe grabbed it, pulling her into his embrace.
Ye Xinghe's delirium was intermittent, sometimes filled with pain, sometimes with resentment. Hua Qingmeng was completely bewildered. He tried to pull his arm away to get her some fever-reducing medicine, worried that if the fever continued, she would become mentally impaired.
At this moment, Ye Xinghe hugged him tighter, her voice softening as she murmured softly, "Hua Qingmeng... Qingmeng..."
Hua Qingmeng leaned closer to her again and wiped away the tears on her face. He looked at Ye Xinghe clinging tightly to his arm, crying out in such pain and helplessness, and it felt as if a thousand needles were pricking his heart; the feeling was indescribably painful.
He desperately wanted to enter Ye Xinghe's dream to find out who had turned such a rebellious woman into such a pitiful and helpless state.
Hua Qingmeng touched Ye Xinghe's forehead; it was still burning hot. He picked up a thermometer and tested her forehead; the reading was 40 degrees Celsius!
"Xinghe! Wake up! Wake up!" Hua Qingmeng forcefully pulled her arm away and shook her harder! Then she soaked a towel in cold water and placed it on her forehead.
Hua Qingmeng ran up to Lin Hao's room on the second floor, pushed the door open, and said in a very impatient tone, "Go and call the private doctor right away!"
"No! Go to his house right now and bring him here! Hurry!"
Seeing Hua Qingmeng's anxious look, Lin Hao didn't dare to delay for a moment. He grabbed his clothes and pants, put them on as he went downstairs, and the car sped away into the night.
Hua Qingmeng went to the refrigerator to get some ice cubes and returned to the room. The towel he had just placed on Ye Xinghe's forehead had become warm. He put the ice cubes in a bag, wrapped it with another soft, dry towel, and placed it on Ye Xinghe's head, continuing to call her name.
The intense cold stimulus made Ye Xinghe open her eyes in a daze. Before her appeared a pair of bright silver-gray phoenix eyes and a very handsome face.
Ye Xinghe looked aggrieved, stretched out her arms, and tightly hooked her arms around Hua Qingmeng's neck, bursting into tears of joy, "You came to save me! Hua Qingmeng, you really came to save me!"
Ye Xinghe kept repeating this sentence.
"Don't be afraid, I'm here to save you." Hua Qingmeng held her tightly, listening to her whispers in her ear, and said softly, "Xinghe, it was just a dream. I'm here with you, you don't need to be afraid of anything."
Ye Xinghe looked up at him, a few tears still clinging to her face. "Am I really dreaming?"
Hua Qingmeng grabbed Ye Xinghe's hand and placed it on his face. "This is not a dream. I've rescued you from your dream."
Due to the high fever, Ye Xinghe couldn't distinguish whether the scene before her was reality or a dream, or whether she had returned to the pain of her previous life and was now having a sweet dream.
She grabbed Hua Qingmeng's hand and placed it on her face. "Pinch me hard, quick, pinch me hard."
Hua Qingmeng stroked her burning face, hesitating whether to make a move. Just then, Lin Hao burst in through the door.
"Flower...flower..." Lin Hao's voice faded from loud to soft as he stood there, stunned.
The scene before him was quite ambiguous. Hua Qingmeng and Ye Xinghe sat facing each other on the bed, their hands caressing each other's faces as they gazed at each other with deep affection.
Lin Hao always manages to appear at the most inopportune times; he has that ability.
Hua Qingmeng, her face dark, got out of bed and walked to the doctor: "She's been talking nonsense. Her temperature is 40 degrees Celsius. She hasn't taken any medicine yet."
"By the way, she might not be fully conscious right now, should we take her to the hospital?"
The doctor went over and examined Ye Xinghe's eyelids, then looked at her tongue.
Ye Xinghe cooperated very obediently, but her eyes were always fixed on Hua Qingmeng, as if she was afraid he would disappear.
After the doctor examined me, he said there was nothing seriously wrong. He advised me to try taking fever-reducing medication first, and if the fever didn't subside, I should go to the hospital.
Hua Qingmeng instructed Lin Hao to arrange a room for the doctor to rest here tonight. After the two left, he locked the door from the inside.
He poured a glass of warm water and handed the medicine to Ye Xinghe.
"Drink more water. Take your medicine and rest quickly."
Ye Xinghe was very obedient. She took the medicine, drank a whole glass of water, and leaned against the headboard, staring blankly at him.
Hua Qingmeng sat opposite her and said, "Go to sleep and get some rest so you can recover faster."
Ye Xinghe bit her lower lip, a hint of worry in her eyes, "What if you disappear after I wake up?"
"No. I'll always be with you." Hua Qingmeng pulled back the covers, letting her lie down, then held her hand tightly. "Sleep."
Ye Xinghe quickly fell asleep again.
A moment later, the door opened. Hua Qingmeng tried to pull his hand away, but it was gripped even tighter. He looked at Ye Xinghe, who was fast asleep beside him, smiled slightly, and picked up his phone to send a message to Lin Hao:
"Notify the airport that tomorrow's flight will be rescheduled to 7 p.m. So we can sleep in tomorrow."
Ye Xinghe slept until 3 p.m., and if she hadn't been so hungry, she could have slept on forever.
She opened her eyes, feeling dizzy and with a splitting headache. Everything around her was black, white, and gray; there was no color whatsoever.
She propped herself up and sat up, and saw Hua Qingmeng not far from her, holding a computer and working.
"How did I get here?" Ye Xinghe rubbed her temples, looking at Hua Qingmeng in surprise. "What are you doing in my room?"
Hua Qingmeng didn't answer her. He took her temperature again with the forehead thermometer. It was 38.5 degrees Celsius. "Wait a moment, I'll call the doctor over."
The doctor came in and conducted another examination.
"Your fever has subsided a bit now. Miss Ye probably caught a chill last night, and she's been quite tired and hasn't been getting enough rest lately. It's nothing serious. Just eat something light and take a fever reducer, and you'll be fine."
Hua Qingmeng asked with a worried expression, "Doctor, will she lose her memory from the fever?"
The doctor chuckled and said, "Second Young Master, please rest assured. The delirium you utter during a fever is like sleep talking; you won't remember it. But your memory won't be lost."
At this moment, Lin Hao rushed in from outside the door, "Second Master, your sister-in-law is here, she's already downstairs."
