Chapter 139 Reunion with Theresa
Chapter 139 Reunion with Theresa
"Nicholas, don't you want to go down and dance? Look how fast Fisher runs!" Leo was not very interested in the music played by the old gramophone. Besides, the alcohol had begun to invade his brain, and he felt dizzy from time to time.
"What's so fun about dancing?" Nicolas shrugged and said he didn't care. He sat on the sofa with Leo and chatted.
"I forgot that you have a brave wife and you are scared!" Leo teased, completely ignoring Nicolas's winking gesture.
"Theresa, I seemed to hear someone say that I'm a shrew!" Leo heard these words in a daze and immediately became a little more sober.
Two beautiful ladies stood before him. Nicholas stood up, walked to one of them and took her hand.
"No! No! Beautiful lady, I definitely didn't say that!" People couldn't help but mutter, and as soon as they mentioned the devil, Nicolas's wife Tina and Leo's old acquaintance stood together and looked at Leo.
"Leo, you're too late. I heard it clearly. Are you crazy?" Tina rolled her eyes and wanted to hit Leo with the fan in her hand.
"I was wrong, I was wrong!"
Leo hid behind Nicolas and begged for mercy repeatedly, while Nicolas looked at Leo and Tina playing with a doting look on his face.
"Why don't you take care of it, Nicholas, you're such a henpecked husband!"
"No, no, no, this is your business, Tina can do whatever she wants!" Nicolas looked as if it had nothing to do with him, while Tina continued to chase Leo by holding up her skirt.
"Don't run!" Tina said breathlessly.
"Don't chase me, I won't run!"
"Okay, but you have to promise me something!"
"Okay, tell me!"
"Dance with my sister Theresa! She has always wanted to meet you!" Tina pulled her companion Theresa to Leo and said with a pout.
"General Leo, I'm Theresa." Theresa, who is over 30 years old, smiled, still as charming as ever. She was wearing a light blue dress and made a lady-like gesture to invite someone to dance. "General, can we dance together?"
"Ms. Theresa, I..."
"What do you mean...go now!" Leo wanted to refuse, but Tina didn't give him a chance and pushed him over.
Following the melodious music, Leo and Theresa walked onto the dance floor hand in hand.
"Long time no see!" Leo broke the awkwardness and spoke first.
"General, you are still so unromantic!" Theresa said softly.
"Uh, you know me. You didn't tell them that we know each other?"
"No, Tina and I haven't known each other for long. I just said that I admire you!" Theresa stared at Leo...
Leo woke up with a hangover on a big bed, covering his head. He felt something was wrong. The beds at home were not so soft. Why didn't his noisy daughter call her old father for dinner yet?
Leo sat up and looked around. This was definitely not his home. The scent in the room was different from that at home. Belatedly, he turned his stiff neck and looked towards the bed.
Under the soft pink quilt, Theresa with blonde hair was leaning her head against him and looking at him with a smile. Her smooth body was pressed against him, making Leo a little distracted.
"Damn alcohol! I want to quit drinking!" Leo covered his face, not wanting to admit the fact that he and Theresa were back together again.
"Quit drinking? There's no need, my love! I just fell in love with you, but I don't want to be with you forever! You should know that I am the famous platinum Mrs. Theresa!" Theresa said casually.
"I know you are very wealthy. Why did you want to attend the military's celebration party?" Leo didn't know how to deal with this situation for a moment, so he had to change the subject.
"In order to make a living, many of my factories have now switched to producing military supplies. Plus, since you, a big naval boss, are here too, I will definitely come to the military celebration!"
Theresa sat up slightly with the help of Leo's arm and rested her head on his chest. The sound of Peng Peng's heartbeat made Theresa unconsciously curl up the corners of her mouth.
"Leo, can you promise me something?"
"What? I... can't make you any promises." Leo was timid and a little nervous. He couldn't give up his wife and lovely daughter who had been with him through thick and thin. The responsibilities of being a father and a husband always whipped him.
"Haha, Leo, you think I'm too weak. I just want you to come to see me more often! I know you are very happy, and I don't want to destroy your happiness!" Theresa murmured to herself with a pitiful expression.
"I... am very busy... I will come back to see you when I have time!" Leo agreed before leaving. When Theresa heard this, a happy expression appeared on her face and she clenched her fists to cheer herself up.
While Leo was reminiscing about the gentle land, on the other side of the sea, Liam was feeling sad.
Proud Liam lay on the front deck of a cruiser, staring blankly at the night sky.
"Liam, why are you so discouraged!" Marshal Fisher, who was at home, suddenly came to visit. With the help of Alex, he boarded the battleship and saw Liam looking at the stars.
"Marshal, I disappoint you!"
In the middle of a December night, the Orkney Islands exude a desolate atmosphere, not only because of the season but also because of the human heart.
The car was driving on the wide street. The sailors who were usually seen sneaking out to get drunk on the street corners were nowhere to be seen. The fanatical and confident Royal Navy had their morale crushed by Leo.
Liam invited Marshal Fisher to his officers' cabin, where Alex made tea and handed it to the two of them.
"Young man, change it to brandy for me. I want to have a drink with Liam!" Fisher did not take it, but instead asked Alex to bring out the wine.
"Liam, I'm disappointed by your fall!" Fisher's eyes made Liam feel ashamed.
"Marshal, I'm sorry!" Liam didn't know how to face Marshal Fisher, who had high hopes for her.
"We failed in the Battle of Shipwreck Bay and suffered heavy losses! There is nothing to say about this. The government and the Admiralty did not punish you, but you are punishing yourself! Child, this is not your fault alone!"
"Thinking back on the day of the naval battle, I do have a lot of questions!"
"If there is a problem, fix it. What's the point of complaining and blaming? Instead of feeling sorry for yourself, why not work hard to improve yourself? You don't want your duel with Leo to end at Shipwreck Bay!"
"Marshal! I won't accept this!" Liam's eyes were filled with tears. He was ashamed of his own depravity and felt sorry for the old marshal who had taken the trouble to enlighten him.
"That's right! The Royal Navy still needs you! The Battle of Shipwreck Bay proved the necessity of developing battlecruisers. The dreadnoughts have powerful firepower and defense, but they can't keep up with the battlecruisers, and instead they drag down the battlecruisers." The old marshal stood up and looked at the naval port outside and continued, "Jellicoe is very capable, but he insists on his conservative policy, so let him lead the main force of the Grand Fleet to continue to implement the blockade plan! As for you, Liam, the deputy commander of the Grand Fleet, you will lead the battlecruisers to carry out the mission alone!"
