Chapter 177: First Test of Edge
Chapter 177: First Test of Edge
"Miss Chen, you haven't rested yet so late at night. What's on your mind?" Doctor Zhang asked with concern, with a warm light in his eyes.
Chen Fang came back to her senses and sighed softly, "Doctor Zhang, I still feel like I'm powerless. This all happened too suddenly, and I may not have enough knowledge to handle such a heavy responsibility."
Doctor Zhang smiled, picked up the teapot and filled a cup for her, then quietly placed it in front of her. "Come, have a cup of tea first to relax your mood." He said patiently.
"Thank you, Doctor Zhang." Chen Fang took the teacup and flicked her fingers over it, feeling the temperature of the tea. She looked at Doctor Zhang and said in a low voice, "I am worried that I can't help my family. Facing the upcoming crisis, my knowledge may seem insignificant."
"Girl, the true value of knowledge lies in whether it can be applied in practice." Doctor Zhang looked at the sky, thought for a moment, and then spoke in a gentle but firm tone, "People can't just be scholars in theory, but should constantly hone themselves in practice."
"But I was just a scholar before, and my understanding of worldly affairs is still shallow." A trace of worry flashed in her eyes, "I am afraid of saying something wrong and bringing trouble to the family if I participate in this meeting."
"Nothing is absolute in this world. Who says that what is wrong is wrong? The key is to listen carefully and think seriously. Even if you are new to the world, you should have the courage to speak up." Doctor Zhang explained patiently, "As a member of the Chen family, you must have unique insights. The family needs your perspective."
After hearing Dr. Zhang's encouragement, Chen Fang's mood gradually eased. "Dr. Zhang, you are right. I should try my best to express my opinions instead of shrinking back. Can you give me some advice so that I can speak more confidently in the meeting?"
Doctor Zhang smiled slightly, his eyes showing appreciation. "Of course. I can share with you some ideas for coping. First, you can start with the current situation, organize your thoughts, and sort out the context. Secondly, systematically sort out your views and suggestions on the Zhang and Liu families, so as to hit the nail on the head and inspire the audience."
"I know how to express my point of view, but how can I make others listen to me?" Chen Fang's face was full of confusion, and his heart was filled with anxiety.
"Confidence is often a good medicine to infect others." Doctor Zhang turned around, looked at her seriously, and continued: "When you are confident about this meeting, the tension in your heart will naturally dissipate, and your words will be fluent. After all, in this family, everyone expects to hear your voice."
Chen Fang nodded, and a warm feeling gradually rose in her heart. "You remind me of my father. He always said that only by being bold and being yourself can you create miracles."
"That's right." Doctor Zhang patted her shoulder gently and smiled. "Combine knowledge with practice and be kind to others sincerely. You will find that if you treat others sincerely, others will listen to you."
"Thank you, Doctor Zhang." Chen Fang responded exaggeratedly, a trace of courage ignited in her heart, "Please rest assured, I will try my best in the meeting. If I have said something wrong, please give me more advice."
Doctor Zhang raised his glass with a smile and clinked it with hers. "Cheers, and I wish you success. Remember, no matter what difficulties you encounter, courage and wisdom will always be your most powerful weapons."
"I must do it well!" She whispered to herself, clenching the letter from home in her hand, her determination growing stronger in her heart.
There was a knock on the door, and Chen Fang looked up and saw Li Canghe walked in with a faint smile on his face. "Xiaofang, today is your first day, what are you preparing for?"
She stood up, took a deep breath, and tried to hide the nervousness in her heart. "I have prepared some information on common diseases, as well as the basic knowledge of acupuncture and massage. But... I'm still a little scared, afraid of making a wrong diagnosis." Her voice gradually lowered, and she seemed a little helpless.
Li Canghe walked up to her, patted her shoulder, and said gently but firmly: "Courage is the first step to success, Miss Chen. You have studied hard in the school and accumulated a wealth of knowledge. As long as you believe in yourself and start to do it, there is nothing to be afraid of."
"But if something unexpected happens... I will bring shame to the family." Her eyes revealed uneasiness and she was very worried.
“Even if something unexpected happens, it’s not your fault alone,” Li Canghe explained. “You have experienced colleagues around you, and Dr. Zhang’s support. Please believe that correcting mistakes is also part of growth.”
Chen Fang nodded slightly, as if touched by his words. However, the uneasiness in her heart still lingered. She turned to the window, and the sunlight sprinkled on the flowers in the yard, which were gorgeous and colorful. Her heart was brightened, as if she saw the hope that she was about to bloom.
"Okay, I'll try to relax." She raised her head, smiled, and said softly, "You're right, I'll try my best."
"Then it's decided." Li Canghe's face was full of encouragement, "Remember, when a patient walks into the clinic, a smile will be the best opening remark."
As the sun got brighter, Chen Fang came to the nearby pharmacy and secretly made up her mind to receive every patient wholeheartedly. She took a deep breath and opened the door of the clinic.
Inside the door was a simple furnishing, with a large table and a few chairs, and a list of famous doctors in the family hanging on the wall. Just as she was sorting out her thoughts, she heard whispers outside the door, and as an old woman came in, the clinic was filled with a warm atmosphere.
"Doctor, you are finally here. My knees hurt all the time and I feel uncomfortable after walking a few steps." The old woman coughed a few times and looked earnest.
Chen Fang quickly calmed down, walked forward, and said with a smile: "Please sit down, I will check you right away. Can you describe the pain in detail?"
After the old woman sat down, she breathed a sigh of relief and told her symptoms: "I am old, and I have had this pain in my knee for some time, especially when it is cloudy and rainy."
As she listened, she kept thinking back to what she had learned in class. She took out her notebook and wrote down the symptoms for the old woman, and things gradually became clear in her mind. "Based on what you said, I will prescribe some blood-activating and blood-stasis-removing herbal medicine for you. Acupuncture treatment may also be helpful." Chen Fang spoke carefully.
"Thank you, doctor." The old woman showed gratitude on her face and slowly stood up, seeming to have full trust in the young doctor.
Facing this situation, Chen Fang felt a warm current in her heart, and the tension disappeared like smoke. She silently said to herself: "I can do better!" The first patient who experienced this encouraged her and gave her confidence.
As the day's treatment progressed, she welcomed many patients, each of whom helped her communicate and handle cases more fluently. Whenever the other party nodded with satisfaction, she felt a sense of accomplishment.
As dusk approached, Li Canghe walked into the clinic. Seeing Chen Fang busy, his eyes were filled with satisfaction: "Xiaofang, it seems that today's diagnosis and treatment are going well?"
"Yes, after treating a few patients, I gradually became able to handle it with ease!" Chen Fang answered excitedly, her face brimming with confidence.
"This is the beginning," Li Canghe smiled slightly, "Your efforts and growth are all reflected at this moment."
