Chapter 126 Looking for Zhangsun Wuwang
Chapter 126 Looking for Zhangsun Wuwang
Following Jin'an's instructions, Hanshuang and Ziyun took half of the fresh fruits and vegetables delivered from the imperial kitchen that morning and sorted and packed them. Then they calmly took the token and left the palace.
Jin couldn't calm down. She pondered over it, thinking the Zhang family was the most likely culprit for obstructing the supply of grain to the border. But she couldn't rule out her third brother. After all, at court, he seemed to support her maternal family, but if he had other plans, it wasn't impossible he might be secretly tampering with the grain. But she couldn't think of any solution, and she couldn't help but think that her brains were indeed inferior to Changsun Jiaoyu's.
She sat on the couch, feeling somewhat depressed, when Qingli came in with a bowl of donkey-hide gelatin, lily bulb, and snow pear syrup. Qingli placed the syrup on the table beside the couch and said softly, "Princess, drink some of it to moisten your throat."
Jin An raised her eyes slightly, looking at the bowl of sugar water, but she had no appetite at all. She lifted the lid and gently stirred it with a spoon, wondering if she had forgotten anything about this matter in her previous life. She had trusted Changsun Wuwang deeply back then, and her grandfather and his family had always been loyal only to their father. Could it be that Changsun Wuwang felt that the Prime Minister's Mansion would be an obstacle to his future, and therefore deliberately arranged it this way, intending to weaken the Prime Minister's threat to him? But she also felt that his greatest threats now should be the Zhang family and his second brother.
She was preoccupied with her thoughts and lost in thought, unconsciously stirring the spoon in the syrup. Qingli saw this and whispered, "Princess, the syrup isn't hot anymore."
Jin An uttered an "ah," put down his spoon, and covered the cup. He looked up at Qing Li and said, "I don't have an appetite right now. Let's drink later."
Seeing this, Qingli bowed slightly and said, "Yes, Princess. There are some persimmons that you like in the small kitchen. Would you like me to bring some over?"
"Persimmons? No thanks!" Jin An waved her hand. Suddenly, a flashback flashed through her mind: when she was little, she'd secretly brought persimmons to Changsun Wuwang. A thought struck her. Since she couldn't figure it out sitting here, she might as well try to calm Changsun Wuwang down. Plus, spending more time with him would also aid her plan.
She said to Qingli, "Go and pack some persimmons. And ask Aunt Zhao to come over too."
Qingli bowed, then walked out, carrying the bowl of sugar water. A moment later, Nanny Zhao returned with the packed persimmons. Jin'an took her with him to find Changsun Wuwang.
Along the way, Jin'an's mind never stopped, and he didn't pay attention to the scenery in the imperial garden at all. Naturally, he didn't notice Changsun Jiaoyu on another road in the distance. When Changsun Jiaoyu saw Jin'an, she wanted to come over and say hello, but she found that she didn't notice her, so she stopped. Changsun Jiaoyu frowned slightly, secretly wondering where Princess Jin'an was going and what she was doing. She stood quietly in the distance, watching Jin'an and Zhao Ma Ma gradually go away. She casually asked Cuiguo beside her: "Are they going to Cuiyuxuan?"
Cui Guo quickly replied, "Princess, yes. That direction leads to Cui Yuxuan."
After hearing Cuiguo's answer, Jiaoyu said nothing, rolled her eyes, and then turned and left. Cuiguo looked at the direction where Princess Jin'an was going, then turned around and followed Princess Jiaoyu away.
Soon, Jin'an and Nanny Zhao arrived at the entrance of Cuiyuxuan. Xiao Xizi, who was about to leave, saw the princess and was about to bow. Jin'an waved his hand and said, "No need to be polite. Is my third brother here?"
Xiao Xizi hurriedly said, "Princess, the Third Prince is here. Please allow me to..." "No, go ahead and do your work. I'll be fine!" Xiao Xizi was interrupted by Jin'an before she could finish her words. With that, Jin'an stepped into the Cuiyu Pavilion, followed closely by Nanny Zhao. Xiao Xizi didn't dare leave at this point and followed Jin'an back into the courtyard.
After a while, they arrived at the door of the main hall. Jin An did not stop but walked in. "Third brother, I came to see you."
Changsun Wuwang was sitting at the table reading a book. When he heard the voice, he looked up and saw Jin'an with a hint of surprise on his face. "Why didn't you let anyone know when Jin'an came?" Changsun Wuwang put down his book and stood up.
Jin An smiled slightly and said, "I just did it on impulse. I didn't want to disturb my brother." Her eyes swept around the room and then landed on Zhangsun Wuwang. "What are you looking at, my brother?"
Changsun Wuwang smiled and said, "I just finished some business and was about to take a break, so I took a look around and saw the imperial sister coming." He looked at Jin'an with a smile on his face, but there was a hint of inquiry in his eyes. "Jin'an, what's the matter with you coming to see me today?"
