Chapter 391: A Wonderful Adventure on a Mysterious Fairy Island
Carrying the treasures they had obtained from the Enchanted Forest Castle, Liu Yu and the others continued their journey in high spirits. Along the way, Pigsy's chubby face was beaming with smiles. He kept fiddling with his share of gold and silver, humming a tuneless little tune: "I, Old Pig, am rich now! My days are sure to be wonderful!" His eyes were practically glued to the pile of treasure, and every step he took felt like walking on clouds, light and airy.
Looking at Zhu Bajie's greedy appearance, Liu Yu shook his head helplessly, thinking to himself that this guy was truly blinded by money. He coughed lightly and said, "Bajie, we can't let these treasures cloud our judgment. There are still many more challenges waiting for us ahead." Liu Yu's eyes were firm and clear, revealing both anticipation and vigilance for the future.
Xiaoqing covered her mouth and chuckled softly, her bright eyes full of teasing: "You, all you care about is treasure, aren't you afraid of being robbed?" She swayed her waist gently, like a blooming flower swaying in the breeze.
Chatting and laughing, the group unknowingly arrived at a vast seaside. Waves crashed against the rocks, making a loud "whoosh," splashing up white spray like blooming snow lotuses. The sea shimmered, golden sunlight shining on it, making it seem as if countless stars were twinkling. In the distance, a small island appeared and disappeared, like a green gem set on blue silk.
"There might be some treasure on that island!" Pigsy said excitedly, his eyes wide open, staring intently at the island as if he could see the gold and silver treasures on it through the seawater.
Liu Yu pondered for a moment, the sea breeze gently brushing his face and ruffling his hair. He gazed at the mysterious island, a desire to explore welling up within him: "In that case, let's go take a look."
They found a small boat and rowed towards the island. Waves crashed against the boat one after another, rocking it violently. Pigsy was so frightened that he clung tightly to the gunwale, muttering, "Oh dear, please don't let this old pig be rocked into the sea." Liu Yu and Xiao Qing rowed hard, sweat dripping from their foreheads.
As they approached the island, they discovered it was as beautiful as a fairyland. The island was lush with greenery, the intertwined branches forming a verdant canopy. Flowers bloomed in profusion, their vibrant colors vying for attention, releasing enchanting fragrances. A towering mountain peak stood there, its summit shrouded in mist, like a white ribbon encircling it.
As soon as they stepped onto the island, they were immediately captivated by the beautiful scenery before them. The grass under their feet was soft and comfortable, as if nature had laid out a green carpet for them.
"Wow, this place is so beautiful!" Xiaoqing couldn't help but exclaim. She opened her arms, feeling the gentle breeze, her face filled with a blissful expression.
Just then, a cute little monkey darted out of the woods, holding a fruit in its hand. The monkey blinked its round eyes, looking at them curiously, and then handed the fruit to Liu Yu. Liu Yu smiled, took the fruit, and gently patted the monkey's head. The monkey jumped happily a few times and ran back into the woods.
"This little monkey is quite friendly," Liu Yu said, feeling a warmth in his heart as he watched the monkey leave.
They walked along a path and suddenly heard a melodious flute tune. The flute music was plaintive and sorrowful, as if telling an ancient and moving story.
Following the sound, one could see a man in white sitting under a large tree, playing a flute. The man was handsome and had a refined air; his white robes fluttered gently in the breeze, making him appear like an immortal descending to earth.
Upon seeing them, the man stopped playing and stood up. His eyes were clear and gentle, and a faint smile played on his lips: "Welcome, distinguished guests from afar, to the Immortal Island." His voice was gentle and melodious, flowing like a clear mountain spring into everyone's hearts.
Liu Yu cupped his hands and said, "Thank you, brother. Is there anything special about this island?" Liu Yu's eyes were full of curiosity and anticipation.
The man smiled slightly, his smile as warm as the spring sunshine: "There is a mysterious cave on this island, which is said to contain magical treasures left behind by immortals."
Upon hearing this, Pigsy's eyes lit up, and his fat body instantly became full of energy: "Then let's go take a look!" He couldn't wait to pull everyone away.
Led by the man, the group arrived at the cave entrance. A thin layer of mist hung over the cave entrance, so dreamlike and ethereal that it obscured the view inside.
"Everyone be careful," Liu Yu warned, his voice low and serious, his hand gripping his sword tightly.
They cautiously entered the cave, which was dark and damp, with strange lights shimmering on the stone walls. Water droplets dripped from the cave ceiling, making a crisp sound.
As they walked, a swarm of enormous bats suddenly appeared. The bats screamed and swooped down on them, the sound of their flapping wings echoing through the cave, sending chills down their spines.
"Oh dear!" Pigsy was so frightened that he quickly hid behind Fahai, his body trembling, and he almost dropped the treasure in his hands.
Fahai shouted, "Prajnaparamita, Great Mighty Heavenly Dragon!" Golden light shot out from his staff like a sharp sword, repelling some of the bats. Fahai's face was filled with solemnity and majesty, and his kasaya appeared exceptionally sacred under the light.
Liu Yu cast a spell, and the light transformed into a large net, trapping the bats. Beads of sweat appeared on his forehead, and his expression was focused and tense.
Xiaoqing's bells rang throughout the cave, their clear and melodious sound like heavenly music, slowing the bats' movements. Her gaze was firm, her figure graceful, like a fairy dancing in the air.
Not to be outdone, Xiao Tian pulled a small torch from his green underwear and tossed it at the swarm of bats. The torch arced through the air, illuminating the cave, and the bats, frightened by the light, scattered in all directions. Xiao Tian barked triumphantly twice and wagged his tail.
They continued deeper into the cave and finally arrived at a spacious hall. In the center of the hall was a stone platform, upon which sat a glittering treasure box. The box was inlaid with various gems, radiating a mysterious and alluring light.
Pigsy couldn't wait to run over and open the treasure box. His heart was pounding and his breathing was rapid.
Just as he was about to touch the treasure box, a barrier suddenly appeared, bouncing him back.
"Ouch!" Pigsy fell to the ground with a cry of pain. He rubbed his buttocks, a look of agony on his face.
At that moment, a mysterious voice rang out: "To obtain the treasure, you must pass my test." The voice echoed in the cave, filled with majesty.
Liu Yu asked, "What kind of test?" Liu Yu's voice was calm and steady, his eyes fixed on the treasure box, his heart filled with anticipation.
The mysterious voice said, "You need to answer three questions for me. If you answer them correctly, the treasure box is yours."
The first question is: "How many stars are there in the sky?"
The group exchanged bewildered glances, unsure how to respond. They all fell into deep thought, their brows furrowed.
Xiaoqing thought for a moment and said, "As much as the sand on the ground." Xiaoqing's voice was clear and confident, and her eyes sparkled with wisdom.
The mysterious voice said, "Correct answer."
The second question is: "What never gets old?"
After a moment's thought, Liu Yu replied, "Time." Liu Yu's voice was firm and powerful, and his eyes revealed his understanding and mastery of knowledge.
The mysterious voice said, "That's right, there's one last question. What has a face but no mouth, feet but no hands, and although it has four legs, it can't walk on its own?"
Pigsy scratched his head, his face turning red with anxiety: "This has stumped me, Old Pig." His round face was full of confusion and helplessness.
Little Tian barked twice and pulled a piece of paper out of his green underwear. The paper had the word "table" written on it.
The mysterious voice said, "Congratulations, you have passed the test."
The barrier vanished, and Pigsy excitedly opened the treasure box, inside which was a bright pearl radiating immense power. The pearl shone brightly, illuminating the entire hall.
Just as they were about to leave the cave, a gigantic monster suddenly appeared. The monster was as large as a mountain, with sharp claws and fangs, and its eyes gleamed with ferocity. Its skin was rough and hard, like a thick layer of armor.
"What is this again?!" Pigsy was so frightened that he almost dropped the treasure box. His voice trembled and his legs went weak.
Fahai shouted again, "Prajnaparamita, Great Mighty Heavenly Dragon!" and charged forward. Fahai's figure was as swift as lightning, and his staff shone with golden light.
Liu Yu and the others also displayed their skills and engaged in a fierce battle with the monster.
The monster's attacks were extremely ferocious; each swing of its claws created a gust of wind that sent everyone staggering. Its roar was deafening, terrifying everyone.
Liu Yu thought to himself, "This guy is tough to deal with, I need to think of a way." While dodging the monster's attacks, he observed its weaknesses.
He looked at Xiao Tian, who seemed to understand his meaning, pulled a flute from his green underpants, and began to play. Strangely, upon hearing the flute, the monster's movements gradually slowed down.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, Liu Yu stabbed the monster in a vital spot with his sword, and the monster collapsed to the ground with a loud thud.
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief; their clothes were soaked with sweat.
They left the cave with the pearl. The sunlight outside shone on them, making them feel warm.
They returned to the seaside, preparing to leave by boat.
Just then, the man in white reappeared.
"Everyone, this pearl is the treasure of the Immortal Island and cannot be taken away," the man said, his voice carrying a hint of determination and helplessness.
Liu Yu frowned, his eyes filled with doubt and reluctance: "But we got it after passing the test."
The man shook his head: "These are the rules of the Immortal Island. Please return them."
Pigsy was unhappy: "We went through so much trouble to get this treasure, why should we give it back?" His voice rose eight octaves, his face full of reluctance.
The two sides were deadlocked, and the atmosphere became tense.
Xiaoqing said, "Why don't we leave a portion of the Pearl's power behind and return it to the Immortal Island? That way, we can abide by the rules and our trip won't be in vain." Xiaoqing's voice was soft and gentle, easing the tense atmosphere.
Everyone thought it was a good idea. After some maneuvering, they retained a portion of the pearl's power and then returned it to the man.
The man smiled and nodded: "Thank you for your understanding. I wish you a safe journey."
Liu Yu and the others boarded a boat and left the fairy island to continue their adventure. The sea breeze brushed against their faces, bringing a touch of coolness.
On the boat, Pigsy was still savoring the experience: "Wow, it was so thrilling and exciting!" A satisfied smile spread across his face.
Liu Yu gazed into the distance, her heart filled with anticipation: "I wonder what kind of adventure awaits us in the next place..."
