Chapter 73 Jealousy
Chapter 73 Jealousy
"What's this, junior?"
Maya cried out in surprise when she saw that the magic power I displayed was different from what she had expected.
My magic did not take on traditional elemental properties; instead, it began to take on a unique form. It was neither the magic of earth, fire, water, or wind, but something entirely different.
But this is a normal reaction, because the magic I possess is the very magic I used in the past.
'The power of the moon.'
"This... is something different," I replied vaguely, not yet ready to reveal the true nature of my characteristic. Although my senior was a good person, I didn't want to easily reveal that this was my characteristic.
Although I think she'll eventually figure it out herself, there's nothing I can do about it.
Maya frowned, clearly both curious and confused. "Different? I've never seen such magic before. Is this your characteristic? Like your performance when you sparred with the phantom puppet."
"I can't hide anything from you."
At this point, I decided to play around with it a little longer, manipulating the silver magic into intricate patterns that danced at my fingertips, and I tried to replicate that feeling as much as possible.
A moment later, I understood.
After I realized how the color of my mana changed and that I was able to use it myself, I also realized something else.
'I cannot access other types of magic.'
I don't know why, but it's probably because of the influence of the Moon.
The only mana I can use is either primal mana or lunar mana, but I am not frustrated.
The power of the moon is inherently very flexible.
'Moreover, the colors here are the same as described in the book.'
This means one thing: the content of the book is true, at least in some respects. Although I read the book simply to pass the time before bed and didn't take its contents as absolute.
I still have room in my mind that it might be wrong, but based on what I see now, I'm certain that this book does contain some useful information.
'Arcane mana? Now I understand why it wasn't fully explained. If manipulating mana is this difficult, how difficult must magic be?'
Thinking this, I turned to Senior Maya. "Thank you for your guidance, Senior Maya." I bowed my head to the girl who was looking at me with a slightly surprised expression.
"I didn't do anything; it was your own hard work that led to this success," she replied, her expression clearly suggesting she wanted to ask a question.
"No, no matter how hard I tried, I could never feel magic before. It was all thanks to your help and your talent for teaching."
My words seemed to have affected her somewhat, as her cheeks flushed slightly.
"..."
"I will repay your help in the future."
"Ah...nothing in return is needed. It was my own decision to help you train."
“However, your help has helped me improve, and I can’t ignore that. If you need any help in the future, I will do my best to help.” I bowed my head one last time and decided to say goodbye. “Well then, I’ll be going now. I have an early class today.”
After saying this, I turned and left the Element Room. Today's class, though short, was more impactful than yesterday's, and was an important step toward the future.
......
"What a mysterious junior."
After Morse left, Maya stood at their training ground, looking at the remaining silver magic, unable to suppress her curiosity about its properties.
Considering Morse's ranking and the aura she could sense, Maya knew he was weak. This was a special ability she possessed thanks to her own unique characteristic, [Mother of Nature].
She could judge a person's strength by their senses, and she knew that Morse was not strong.
However, as he fought the phantom puppet, she noticed a change in his aura. That red aura was dangerous, and she sensed the danger within it herself.
'But thankfully, he's still that junior.' She breathed a sigh of relief after seeing his control over his magic. If someone possessed him, their signature magic should have changed, since magic is related to the soul, but his magic hadn't changed.
This meant he was still that junior student. And while training with him, she discovered something else.
"He actually learned how to control magic in just one day... Junior... I really want to know how far you can go."

Maya smiled and picked up a potato chip, starting to eat. Normally, food was prohibited in the training room, but no one reprimanded Maya. She was the top student in the second year, and her kind nature led everyone to overlook these small details.
However, a senior student who witnessed the entire training process was clearly not satisfied with it.
......
Not far away, a young man was watching the two people training together in the elemental chamber.
"Who is this person?" The young man's voice trembled as he muttered to himself, his eyes fixed on the two people training. His eyes were filled with intense jealousy.
This wasn't a special occasion. Usually, people would train in the Element Room with friends and occasionally get some feedback.
The same was true for Maya, who often came with her friends.
How did he know?
Of course, it was because he had been secretly observing Maya.
But this time was different. This time it was a man with Maya, which stirred up burning envy in the observers.
He had secretly admired Maya for a long time, appreciating her pure heart from afar. He knew Maya wasn't the type to spend so much time with a man.
As he watched Morse and Maya interact, a deep sense of jealousy crept into his heart. He couldn't bear to see the person he had secretly loved for so long being close to someone else.
"How dare you? How dare you approach my goddess?" he roared through gritted teeth.
He knew Maya would arrive at the Elemental Chamber very early every day. In order to observe her from the side, he even adjusted his own training schedule.
The young man's eyes went mad, a wicked smile twisting his face as he began to devise a sinister plan. He had been lurking in the shadows for a long time, and now he believed it was time to act.
"I will never let you take her away from me," he muttered, his voice filled with malice. His obsession with Maya had reached a point of no return, and he himself had misunderstood their relationship.
Because he was far away from their senses, he couldn't hear what they were saying, but the fact that Maya was talking to Morse alone made him incredibly jealous.
The Maya he knew had never spoken to a boy for so long. To him, something was clearly happening. He knew he had to eliminate that person and remove the obstacle to Maya's path.
The young man firmly believed that only he deserved Maya's love and attention and could not tolerate her being close to other people.
......
After the training session with Senior Maya ended, nothing particularly noteworthy happened at the academy until Friday.
"—Do you know how the Kingdom of Valerian was formed after merging all human nations?"
Ding--
Just as the professor was explaining the history of the Valerian Federation, the bell rang in the classroom.
"It seems we'll call it a day for today." After saying this, he pushed up his glasses and looked at the students.
'Sigh...he's going to assign homework again.'
Whenever he assigns homework, he always pushes up his glasses first.
Then, with a smile, he continued, "Your assignment this week is simple. I want each of you to research and prepare a report on an important event or figure from the founding period of the Valerian Federation."
The classroom was filled with complaints and whispers, but the professor paid no attention; he was used to this kind of reaction.
“Please remember,” he emphasized, “that the history of the Valerian Federation is a tapestry woven from the stories of many nations and individuals. Your report should reveal the factors that led to the formation of this great federation. I expect your report to be in-depth and informative.”
Next, he projected a list of topics onto the screen in front of the classroom, ranging from the Unity Treaty to the contributions of famous leaders.
“You can choose any topic that interests you, but I encourage you to choose something that resonates with you,” the professor continued. “The reports are due next Friday, so make good use of your time. Remember, knowledge is the key to understanding our world. get out of class dismissed.”
The students began packing up to leave the classroom because I was going to have joint training with the archery club today.
Although there were no club activities last week, there are this week. With more homework and other things to do, time is becoming increasingly tight. So I can't afford to waste any time.
Now I can hear the main characters talking as I pack my things.
"Ethan, what are you planning to do?"
"Yes, I plan to train as usual."
Don't you have any club activities?
"Yes, we had one last week. The Long Rifle Club conducts joint training every two weeks."
"I understand. So, would you like to spar with me? It's been a while since we've handled weapons, don't you think?"
"No."
"what?"
"I'm going to the dungeon tomorrow, so I need to be in top condition."
"So what? We can train now."
"Sigh, Julia, every time I spar with you, I always end up bleeding."
"This is the path of a man. Are you afraid now?"
"Tsk. Julia, you know this isn't about whether I'm a man or not. It's about not wanting to have to explain my wound to my mother again and again while facing your endless ridicule."
"Come on, Ethan. Besides, I don't always go all out. Well, at least not every time."
“'Not every time?' Remember that time you knocked out my tooth during a friendly sparring match? I spent my entire month's allowance on medicine, and I didn't have any food for a whole month.”
Julia shrugged, a mischievous smile on her face. "A small detail, a small detail. Just a small gap."
Ethan shook his head, still smiling. "You're really something else. But seriously, I need to conserve my energy; tomorrow's dungeon expedition is important. You understand?"
Julia sighed loudly. "Alright, go prepare for your dungeon adventure. But don't think you can escape our next spar."
Ethan smiled. "I understand."
Judging from his words, he was preparing for the dungeon exploration Emily had requested. Well, in the game, Emily explained that this wasn't an ordinary dungeon, but due to her father's injury, it was beyond the scope of their guild.
Well, the reason she trusted Ethan must be because she had warned him beforehand. After all, she's the kind of person who knows how to repay kindness.
After packing my things, I left the classroom and headed to the archery club area.
Suddenly, for some reason, on the road, I felt as if someone was watching me hostilely from a distance.
This situation has been going on for a whole week, but I still haven't found the source of the attention.
"Tsk." I clicked my tongue in exasperation and continued walking, eventually arriving at the club activity room.
