Chapter 103 Raising Rabbits
Chapter 103 Raising Rabbits
"Hey! Don't just stand there dumbfounded! Quick! Take care of that biggest wild boar first!" the old man shouted at Li Mu.
Upon hearing the sound, Li Mu immediately focused his attention and aimed at the enormous wild boar.
He used all his strength to swing the sickle at the wild boar.
The sickle drew a bright arc in the air and struck the wild boar's leg accurately.
The wild boar let out a miserable cry and collapsed to the ground.
Seeing this, the old man breathed a sigh of relief. He seized the opportunity to rush into the enclosure and quickly stabbed the other wild boars with his short knife.
Li Mu also took the opportunity to follow up, and the two of them, one inside and one outside, worked together seamlessly to deal with the remaining wild boars.
The number of wild boars inside the enclosure was decreasing, and the two men were gradually running out of energy.
"Okay! Okay!"
The old man, panting heavily, stopped what he was doing. Li Mu, exhausted, collapsed to the ground, gasping for breath, feeling both surprised and delighted.
Li Mu wiped his sweat: "Master, we're going to be rich this time!"
The old man chuckled, walked to the fence, looked at the wild boars inside, and said, "These wild boars are top-quality game. If we take them to town, we'll definitely get a good price."
Li Mu nodded repeatedly: "Yes, Master, let's hurry up and take these wild boars back, otherwise it will be difficult to travel after dark."
The old man waved his hand and said, "No rush, no rush. Let's deal with these wild boars first. Otherwise, if we take them back like this, the smell of blood will be too strong and will easily attract other wild animals."
As he spoke, the old man began to process the wild boar, and Li Mu quickly followed to help.
After working for a while, the two finally cleaned up all the wild boars. Then they tied them up one by one with rope and carried them on their backs.
"Let's go back." The old man carried the largest wild boar on his back and walked in front, while Li Mu carried several smaller wild boars on his back and followed behind.
The two followed the path they had come from and headed down the mountain. After walking for a while, they arrived at the village. Ali was standing at the village entrance when he saw the old man and Li Mu carrying the wild boar back. His eyes lit up and he quickly went to greet them, saying, "If you hadn't come back by now, I would have been looking for you."
As Ali spoke, he helped take the wild boar off Li Mu's back.
The old man smiled and said, "I've had good luck today; I've hunted quite a few wild boars."
Upon hearing this, Ali beamed with joy: "That's wonderful! Now our village will have meat to eat!"
The three men carried the wild boar into the village. When the other villagers saw this, they all gathered around and praised the old man and Li Mu for their skills.
"Master, it's getting dark, I have to go back now."
The old man knew he had to hurry back, or his family would worry.
"Alright, let's split the wild boar. The rabbits are yours. Go back and raise them well. Once they're grown up, take them to town to sell and you can make some money."
As the old man spoke, he began to divide the wild boar: "This big one is for you."
"How can that be! This is the big one, Master."
"You should take the big one since you finally managed to hunt it." Li Mu quickly declined.
The old man waved his hand and said, "Don't be so polite. You're young and strong, so you need to eat more meat to grow. I'm just an old man, I can't eat much anymore."
Seeing the old man's resolute attitude, Li Mu could no longer refuse and had no choice but to respectfully accept the wild boar offered by the old man. The remaining wild boars were divided between the old man and Ali, with each receiving several.
After dividing the wild boar, the old man said to Li Mu, "When you get back, remember to skin the wild boar and dry it to make a blanket. It'll keep you warm in winter. Also, don't throw away the wild boar bones. Crush them and grind them into powder; they're good for calcium."
Li Mu agreed to everything, his heart filled with gratitude.
The old man not only taught him hunting skills, but also selflessly passed on these life tips to him.
"Alright, it's getting late, you should head back now. Be careful on the road, don't let any wild animals target you," the old man advised.
Li Mu nodded, hoisted the wild boar onto his back, bid farewell to the old man and Ali, and set off on his way back to Li Family Village.
Li Mu walked cautiously along the way, afraid of startling any wild animals. Fortunately, everything went smoothly, and he returned home safely.
His family was overjoyed to see that he had hunted a wild boar.
"Hey, Mom! Don't kill the rabbit! We want to keep it as a pet!"
Jiang Xuefen held the rabbit by its ears, looking at Li Mu with a puzzled expression: "Why keep it? We don't have many rabbits, and they don't grow very big. It's more economical to kill them and eat them for meat."
But Li Mu shook his head and said seriously, "Mom, we have to keep these rabbits. They can have baby rabbits later! That way, we'll have more rabbits at home. Then we can eat meat whenever we want, and make clothes out of rabbit fur whenever we want. Wouldn't that be great!"
Upon hearing this, Jiang Xuefen felt that Li Mu's words made sense, so she nodded and said, "Okay, let's raise them for now and kill them when they're grown up."
As she spoke, Jiang Xuefen put the rabbits into the cage and fed them some vegetable leaves. There were three males and three females, just enough for them to breed.
The wild boar that Li Mu brought back weighed several hundred kilograms. It took the whole family to carry it into the yard. They would take it to a restaurant to sell first thing tomorrow morning.
Thinking of this, Li Mu went out to find Tian Xiaohu to ask about fishing.
"Brother Mu! We caught ten baskets of fish today!"
“Sure! Tomorrow morning we’ll ask who wants to come to town with us and sell the fish and wild boar. We can make some money to spend,” Li Mu said with a smile.
Upon hearing this, Tian Xiaohu's eyes lit up: "Great idea! Brother Mu, I'll go tell everyone right away that we'll go to town first thing tomorrow morning."
After saying that, Tian Xiaohu turned and ran away to inform the other villagers.
Li Mu watched Tian Xiaohu's departing figure, secretly pleased.
This hunt was incredibly fruitful; we not only caught a wild boar but also a huge catch of fish—a double blessing!
The next morning, just as dawn was breaking, Li Mu got up. He ate a simple breakfast and, together with Tian Xiaohu, drove their tricycle to town. The Lakeside Hotel wasn't open yet, and there wasn't a soul in sight at the entrance.
But Li Mu and Tian Xiaohu weren't in a hurry. They parked their car in front of the restaurant and waited for it to open.
After waiting for a while, the restaurant door finally creaked open. The older woman looked at him, pointed to the kitchen, and shouted, "Brother Jin is in the back. Go find him at the back door."
Li Mu and Tian Xiaohu responded and then went around to the back door of the restaurant.
As soon as they reached the back door, they saw Jin Dachuan and the proprietress Zhou Li busy carrying things into the kitchen. When they saw Li Mu and Tian Xiaohu coming over, Jin Dachuan greeted them with a smile: "Oh, Xiao Li and Xiao Tian are here. So early today?"
Li Mu said with a smile, "Brother Jin, we're just in a hurry to sell you what we hunted. Guess what good stuff we have today?"
