Chapter 137 Lanster's Wonderful Journey
Chapter 137 Lanster's Wonderful Journey
Lanster paused when he heard them talking about the goods, then his gaze turned back in the direction he had come from.
That was their warehouse; Lanster had gotten in by hitching a ride on a cargo box.
As one views this memory, Lanster's inner voice echoes along with it. This is why, despite its convenience, most alien races are unwilling to use this method to show others what they have seen.
Previously, because the doll was short, Lanster could only see the lower half of the large cargo box, and he really didn't expect that there would be food inside.
"Hey, don't even think about it. This bunch of humans and animals are going to be taken to Fengming Star as sacrificial offerings. If you eat them, then you'll be the one to take their place as a sacrifice."
Another person, upon hearing that the man wanted to eat the goods in the warehouse, quickly stopped him.
Lanster was initially quite curious about what was in the cargo, but once he heard it was people and animals, he lost interest.
Among alien races, only lower-ranking alien races would indiscriminately eat people when they are hungry.
After all, beings capable of communication are generally considered intelligent species, even if they aren't treated as one of their own. At least, that's the prevailing view.
"Huh? This is full of people and animals?! I always thought it was just livestock. Tsk, no wonder it smells so good."
The person who was so hungry he wanted to eat the goods smacked his lips, looking regretful.
Upon hearing this, Lanster was certain that the owner of this private shuttle was no good. The mainstream of alien societies wouldn't do such a thing.
However, he remembered an organization that seemed to advocate ruling over humanity, treating them like livestock of inferior alien races, so as to better harvest energy.
This must be from that organization; only they would call humans "human-animal hybrids."
"That's true, but if you want to eat it, what's the rush? Once we get to Fengming Star, there are so many humans there, you can eat whatever you want."
"Besides, I heard that these animals have been injected with something. If you eat it, aren't you afraid of getting sick from it?"
The alien who had stopped the eating of the goods first comforted the other person, then whispered something the other person didn't know.
"Huh?! What is the boss thinking? Injecting something into the food? Ugh! That sounds disgusting."
The alien race that wanted to eat the goods felt disgusted when they heard that someone had been injected with something.
"Yes, otherwise how could they all be unconscious, these beasts? It's to prevent them from dying before reaching Fengming Star and the sacrificial ceremony."
"They're using life support pods, which cost more than your annual salary."
The person who was stopping them seemed to know a lot, speaking to the alien who wanted to eat in a tone that was half intimidating and half teasing.
"Ugh. Tsk, the lowest rungs of society. Humans, putting everything else aside, this description is too accurate. Oh well, let's go to the cafeteria. We'll just swipe our cards casually, otherwise those people will definitely eat us all if we're late."
With that, they glanced casually at the warehouse, got up, and left, heading towards the restaurant.
Lanster quietly followed them to the restaurant.
Lanster glanced around and found that the restaurant was enormous, seemingly capable of accommodating hundreds of people at once. It felt like at least a quarter of the shuttle was occupied by this massive dining area.
However, although this is a huge restaurant, all of the dozen or so windows only offer one set meal, labeled "Set Meal A".
When Lanster and his two companions arrived, there were only a few people scattered around the restaurant, eating their meals. Even the food serving window was down to its last open position.
"Hey! You two! Come and eat, or there won't be any left!"
The man serving food at the window was a very burly old man. He saw the two people who had just arrived at the door.
The old man was wearing a white vest and had a pair of horns on his head that looked like bull horns. However, one of the horns had been violently broken off, but this only added to the old man's fierce aura.
"I'm getting old! What's good to eat today?"
The two jogged to the old man's window.
"Today is the same as yesterday, but since you're late, there are two steamed buns left in the human world, so I'll give them to you two."
As he spoke, the old man took out two plump, white steamed buns from the basket behind him and handed them to the two of them.
"Wow! Thanks! I heard this stuff is sweet, I've never tried it before."
The two of them took their food, thanked the old man, and then found a place to sit down and eat.
As they ran over, Lanster took the opportunity to slip into the kitchen.
He wandered around the kitchen, also listening intently to what was happening outside.
"James, why are you two so late for dinner today?"
The old man seemed to know the two of them well, and since he was bored, he started chatting with them.
"Don't say anything. I overslept this morning and missed breakfast. When I arrived, there was only one vial of nutrient solution left. I ate it and went on patrol, and I'm only just back now."
Judging from the voice, the one named James should be the alien who was particularly hungry before.
"He almost tried to steal food from people and animals while he was on patrol just now, but I stopped him."
The other person immediately told them what had just happened.
It's obvious they have a good relationship, otherwise they wouldn't tease each other like that.
"Stanley! You've gone too far! I... I was just hungry, I couldn't help it."
James was momentarily embarrassed and angry, but he scratched his head and admitted his previous thoughts.
"You can't eat that, kid. I heard the captain and vice-captain who came to eat say that if those animals were eaten by the alien race, they might go berserk and their brains could be shattered by the energy. There would be no way to save them then."
Upon hearing this, the old man hurriedly tried to dissuade him.
"Okay, okay, I understand. I promise I won't eat it!"
……
Lanster, who had found some food in the kitchen and was eating, overheard their conversation and seemed thoughtful. He had a feeling that they were actually conducting human experiments, just under the guise of a ritual?
I need to go and see if it's really that organization.
With that thought in mind, Lanster finished the steamed bun he had secretly taken in two bites.
This thing called steamed bun is actually quite delicious. It's all my mom's fault for not letting me eat things from the human world, saying that they're bad for me.
Hmph ╭(╯^╰)╮, I saw her eating so much. She must be afraid I'd eat hers! That's too much!
Lanster mentally complained about his mother, then elegantly wiped his mouth.
Then, he went out through the back door of the kitchen.
