Chapter 121: First Mission
Chapter 121: First Mission
Seraph remained perfectly still even though someone had come inside his small room unannounced.
He simply glanced at the person, then turned his head.
As expected, it was another masked man, another agent he didn’t recognize.
This person stood straight, his shoulders held high.
"Agent-YX, you are to report to the mission dome in two hours. An exclusive mission is ready for you."
Seraph nodded, and the man stepped out of his room, closing the door behind him.
Sighing, Seraph thought, ’Just two hours? I better get some sleep. And Halo, no annoying chats.’
The system remained silent, so he quickly forced himself to sleep. After exactly one hour thirty minutes, his eyes snapped open.
He used a few seconds to get to his full senses, then he got up from the bed. Washing his face by the small sink attached to the wall, he blinked, then put on his mask.
Once he was done, he stretched slightly, then went out of the room.
He walked down the dark hallway, passing by several other members who were headed in different directions.
Soon, he turned to a new passage, falling in line with those heading to the mission dome.
When he stepped inside, he felt like he had just escaped the sea into the skies. The mission dome was painted white, unlike the other parts of the organization.
He squinted behind the mask, then walked towards one of the empty counters. This one was unlike the other counters, since it only gave out exclusive missions.
"Agent-YX reporting for an exclusive mission," He said, standing before the counter.
Just like a private stall, he couldn’t see who was on the other side. He only heard a soft voice, and gloved slender hands stretched a mission plate to him.
’These hands... probably a child between the age of 9 and 13. Unbelievable.’
He accepted the plate, read the mission, and dropped it into his storage ring.
Wanting to test something, he turned back to the counter and said, "Thank you."
There was a moment of silence, then he heard a flustered voice say, "U-uh... y-you’re welcome..."
The voice was soft, and he barely heard it.
Seraph nodded and walked away. Instead of returning through the entrance if the hall, he walked to the other end where a smaller door was.
There, two masked women of higher ranks stood by the door, guarding it.
Seeing him approach, one of them stretched out her hand, and Seraph gave her his mission plate.
She checked it, then handed it back to him. He kept it in his storage ring.
The other masked woman took out a black cloth and used it to cover his head, blinding him.
"Take it off, only after one minute."
He nodded obediently, then stepped into the door that was now opened. He remained there for a few seconds, then felt the air and spiritual energy around him change.
He waited until a full minute was complete, then took off the cloth around his head.
He looked around curiously, realizing he was standing on a hill near a large city that sprawled several hectares.
"Hm, a noble family, hm?"
It was nighttime, and he could tell that the city was asleep. The marketplace was empty and devoid of people, and the only people who were moving were the guards of the city.
’Finding that guy shouldn’t be hard. In the central mansion, of course.’
Shaking his legs slightly, he broke into a soft, soundless sprint, dashing towards the city.
In a few minutes, he arrived at the city walls and jumped inside. The guards were unable to sense him, as most of them were at the Peak Advanced Stage. There were only a few Master Stage cultivators among them.
Bypassing them, he moved through the city and eventually arrived at the central mansion where the City Lord lived.
The mansion was heavily guarded, and that was to be expected. Usually, Seraph wasn’t interested in highly influential people like this. There was only one reason he was here, and that was his mission.
His target was Zoldyk Mason, the eldest son of the City Lord.
Still concealing his presence, Seraph slipped past the guards and turned a corner inside the building, only to come face to face with a servant that was secretly doing something shady.
Her eyes widened as soon as she saw him, and she instinctively opened her mouth to scream.
She couldn’t. Seraph sliced her throat, then cushioned her fall. He carried her body to a corner, then kept it there.
Before leaving, he bowed and offered her a short prayer.
"Rest in peace."
He walked away from her and moved deeper into the mansion. At some point, he encountered lone guards that had to be put down before he could continue on his way.
’This building is unbelievably complex. Did they do this to confuse assassin’s?’
As he stopped by a forked pathway, he glanced to his left, and then to his right.
He took a step back, and an arrow struck the wall next to him.
Two figures landed before him, one a man, and another a woman. They looked to be in their late twenties, but Seraph didn’t care.
The man sneered, looking at Seraph’s mask. "So someone really sent a Reaper after Young Master Zoldyk."
The woman nodded, her nose flaring arrogantly. "This will be my first time catching a Reaper. I can’t wait to torture him to death."
Seraph could understand their dislike for the Reapers. After all, it wasn’t like he liked the organization too. They had colluded with the Inferno Sect to kidnap Ariana and the others after all.
However, that didn’t mean he’d surrender to these two mercenary cultivators.
He glanced at the woman wearing a provocative clothing, then a mischievous idea came to his mind.
Smiling under the mask, he took another step back, and ran.
The two immediately chased after him, shouting, "Stop right there!"
To their surprise, Seraph stopped and turned around, running straight at them instead.
The woman threw out several water blades, but he easily dodged it. Then, he man swung his sword, carving a line of wind blades towards Seraph.
He took out a spear from his storage ring, jumped from side to side, then slashed at the wind blade.
It easily shattered under the weight of his spear, and he dashed at them. The woman also took out a spear, rushing forward to confront him.
Parrying her spear with his own, he did something unconventional and considered rude. Without giving regards to her gender, he raised his leg and kicked her chest.
Her bosom cushioned the force behind his kick, but it caused her to yelp and fall to the ground in pain.
"Wha...? You bastard!" The man shouted and lunged at Seraph, but he easily knocked aside his sword and punched him in the gut.
The man’s mouth foamed instantly, and he fell to the ground—unconscious.
Without hesitation, Seraph raised his spear and drove it into his chest, killing him.
’Core Master Stage cultivator—killed.’
Then, he approached the woman who was struggling to stand up. It seemed the hit was completely unexpected, and she had been seriously injured—internally.
"N-no. Go back." She said weakly, stepping back in fear.
Seraph observed her expression with a tilt of his head, then swung his spear. Her head rolled to the ground, and her body collapsed after it.
’It is dangerous to let you live while I’m still here. Apologies.’
Walking over her corpse, vhe continued deeper into the mansion.
Finally, he arrived at the residential area of the first son of the City Lord.
Standing by the door, he knocked and replicated the dead man’s voice.
"Young Master."
There was no response, then he knocked again, "Young Master?"
He heard a faint groan, then someone came to open the door, looking displeased.
The guy was fat, almost obese. He was completely naked, with a long rod between his legs. Without even looking at Seraph, he turned around and headed back to his bed where four girls were laid.
All of them were naked and unconscious, and they had his seed leaking from their holes.
Not knowing that it wasn’t whom he thought Seraph was, Zoldyk groped the unconscious girls.
"Have you found any virgin maiden? My libido for today hasn’t been satisfied."
Seraph didn’t answer, merely staring at the scene expressionlessly.
Then, he raised a hand and shot a wind blades at Zoldyk’s neck. The guy barely turned his head before he lost it.
Warm blood sprayed onto the naked girls, but Seraph was already out of the room.
’I thought I’d feel guilty killing my first target, but it turned out to be a scum. Hm, not bad.’
He thought, walking down the hallways of the mansion and tracing his steps back to the entrance.
Behind him, he could hear the startled screams of the girls who had probably woken up.
Increasing his pace, he felt the urge to leave quickly when he felt the spiritual pressure of a King Stage cultivator wash over him. Then, it locked onto his figure.
Seraph sighed, ’I still have to fight? Annoying.’
