Chapter 107 Meeting Request
Chapter 107 Meeting Request
At this point, he finally felt like he was a guest in someone else's home.
Time flies, and not long after Lei Xiu finished tidying up, Le You's loud and boisterous voice came from outside the door.
"Lezhi, are you there? I've come to find you~"
"Yes, I'm here."
He hurriedly let Le You in, and then greeted Le Ting behind Le You. Only then did Le Zhi look at the refreshed Le You and ask.
"Leyou, you're all ready so quickly?"
"Okay, everything's done. I want to get it done quickly so I can come and see how your room is and if there's anything I can help you with." With that, Leyou took Lezhi's hand without any hesitation and walked straight into the house.
Having known each other for so long, and with Leyou's assertive personality, he had long considered Lezhi his best friend. His friend's room was practically his own, so there was no need to be polite. Most importantly, he knew Lezhi definitely wouldn't mind.
As for the one who might mind, who cares?
"My room is fine, there's nothing I can help with for now. How's yours?" Lezhi didn't seem to notice anything amiss. She led Leyou and Leting around the common areas, which were basically the living room and kitchen, before taking them to her room.
"It's pretty much the same as yours. It seems that the rooms used by the Windwalker Clan for entertaining guests are all quite similar." Leyou stood by the window, glanced at the scenery outside, and nodded in satisfaction.
“Oh, right.” Lezhi sat cross-legged on the bed, patted the empty space next to her, and gestured for the somewhat reserved Leting to sit down. “By the way, I was just thinking, I wonder what the theme of this year’s hunting competition will be.”
"It's just a few themes that rotate every year. It's either about being the biggest, the most numerous, or the rarest." Leyou also jumped onto the bed. They had just changed their clothes and weren't worried about Lezhi's disapproval.
"Those things are not important, they don't concern us much anyway. We just need to focus on how to do business next."
When this is mentioned, Leyou gets excited.
He sat up abruptly, spreading his arms wide. He put one arm around Yue Ting and the other around Yue Zhi, and the three of them formed a circle, whispering and discussing business strategies.
Inspired by Leyou's serious attitude, Lezhi and Leting also chimed in from time to time to express their opinions. Since their partners had not yet arrived, those who arrived first had to set up the stall, so there was a lot of work to be done.
After discussing the tasks, the three of them decided to divide the work. Leyou was responsible for contacting the stalls, Leting was responsible for preparing the ingredients and utensils, and Lezhi was responsible for making the main products to be sold. Once Leting and Leyou were finished, they would come and help him.
None of the people had any objections to the arrangement, and Leyou made the final decision.
"...Okay, that's settled for now. The trade fair always starts very early. Uncle Leshan said that once the Longtail Tribe arrives, the trade fair will officially open in a few days. Let's split up and proceed as we just agreed."
"Okay..." "Alright."
Setting up a stall at a trade fair isn't a big deal, but it was their first time doing it, so everyone took it very seriously, planning everything meticulously and striving for perfection. They seemed to get more and more excited as they talked.
"Zhizhi, we should get going." Lei Xiu urged them at the right moment, interrupting their three-way meeting. The three of them smiled at each other, quickly tidied their appearance, and set off to attend the Windwalker Clan's gathering. That night's gathering was nothing special for Lezhi. The food was prepared by the Windwalker Clan, and as a guest, Lezhi only needed to open her mouth and eat after receiving the food.
The members of the Leyou team supported each other all the way, and when they arrived at the Windwalker Clan, they still habitually gathered together. Lei Xiu also followed Lezhi's side as usual. In a daze, Lezhi even had the illusion that they were still on the road.
The only difference was that there were many unfamiliar faces around him. He didn't know if it was just his imagination, but he always felt that someone was watching him, and it wasn't just one person.
Feeling the weight of the fluffy ball on his head, Lezhi guessed that it was mostly the fluffy ball's fault.
The party grew lively amidst the noise, but Lezhi couldn't stay awake any longer. He'd been very sleepy lately, and his eyelids started drooping as soon as it was time to leave. The moment Lezhi let out his first yawn, Lei Xiu got up, pulled him along, and led him away early.
"Lei Xiu, isn't it a bit inappropriate for us to leave like this?" Le Zhi's eyes were half-open and half-closed, and she was following Lei Xiu on the road entirely by muscle memory, without using any extra brainpower.
"No, okay, don't talk if you're tired, we'll be there soon." Hearing that Lezhi's speech was a little slurred, Lei Xiu held Lezhi's hand even tighter.
After settling Lezhi in, the moon was already high in the night sky. The sounds of the commotion from the plaza in the distance could still be faintly heard. Lei Xiu placed one hand on the wall and gave the order for Wu Mu Teng to close the window. After looking around the room and confirming that there was no threat, he quietly left.
Lezhi, who was already fast asleep, was completely unaware of all this. When the fur ball nuzzled closer to him, Lezhi simply changed his position and then didn't move again.
Lei Xiu did not return to his room to rest after leaving Lezhi's room. Instead, he quietly left the room and waited until the noise in the square gradually subsided before quietly returning to his residence.
Unbeknownst to Lei Xiu, as he left, a strange light emanated from Le Zhi's body once again. In the dimly lit, enclosed room, the light on Le Zhi's body flickered and breathed.
The fur ball beside him didn't sense anything amiss; instead, it moved even closer to Lezhi, its breathing gradually synchronizing with the flickering light emanating from Lezhi.
First it was the furball, and then the wisteria was affected; plants react more directly than animals. In the dim night, the wisteria where Rakuchi was located was quietly changing. Its branches became tighter, and its growth rate increased significantly. Even the leaves of the vines seemed to have undergone a complete transformation, radiating a warm, jade-like glow under the sunlight.
All of this happened quietly that night. The changes in the vine were significant; if anyone had paid attention to the changes before and after Lezhi's arrival, they would have easily noticed the differences. However, the tree spirits had lived alongside the vine for many years, and they had become so accustomed to it that they almost ignored it. Therefore, only a few observant individuals noticed something amiss.
As for Lezhi, the instigator, he just felt that he slept unexpectedly well on his first night with the Windwalker Clan, and woke up feeling refreshed in the morning.
After stretching out her limbs and giving a big yawn, Lezhi slowly opened her eyes and turned her head to look at Maoqiu, who was sleeping soundly with her little belly flat on the ground. Lezhi was slightly surprised.
In the past, Maoqiu would wake him up beforehand, but this was the first time that Lezhi had already woken up while Maoqiu was still asleep.
Lezhi gently poked the furball with her index finger, but it still didn't react. She smiled mischievously. Sitting up halfway, Lezhi found a good spot and buried her forehead in the furball's soft belly, rubbing against it a couple of times.
"Fluffy ball, wake up!"
Thanks to Lezhi's retaliatory waking-up maneuver, Maoqiu was successfully startled awake.
"Chirp~ Chirp chirp~"
With a drowsy groan, Maoqiu jumped up alertly. It was utterly unbelievable that it could fall into such a deep sleep in an unfamiliar place; Maoqiu's little black bean eyes were filled with great confusion.
Unable to comprehend Maoqiu's inner thoughts, Lezhi, who only felt that the prank had succeeded, laughed so hard that she fell onto the bed. It wasn't until Maoqiu waved its wing at Lezhi in dissatisfaction that Lezhi stopped laughing.
After getting up and changing her clothes, Lezhi asked Wumu Teng to open the window to let some fresh air into the room.
"Huh, why are they blooming?" Raising her hand to straighten the drooping vines, Lezhi looked at the clusters of vibrant flowers with surprise in her eyes. "Hmm, could it be that the Windwalker Clan's Wood Vine blooms in Hakuzoku? I didn't see any buds yesterday."
With his chin resting on his hand, Lezhi couldn't think of a way to explain this strange phenomenon. Before Lezhi could ponder for long, Lei Xiu's knocking on the door interrupted his thoughts.
"Zhizhi, are you awake?"
Suddenly snapping out of her daze, Lezhi put aside her slight doubts, loudly replied "Coming!", turned around, picked up Maoqiu, and opened the door.
Lei Xiu got up to make breakfast. According to Le Zhi's habits, there was a staple food, vegetables and meat. Lei Xiu also steamed egg custard for Le Zhi. He was practically raising him like a child.
Watching Lezhi enjoy the breakfast he had prepared, Lei Xiu's eyes were filled with tenderness.
"Zhizhi, do you have any plans for today?" Lei Xiu asked softly as he tidied up the dishes after Lezhi had finished eating.
"Well, nothing important. Yesterday, Leyou told me to think about what else I could sell at the stall, and that's all." Lezhi watched as Maoqiu swallowed the last bite of food, then took Maoqiu's special utensils to the sink to wash them.
"If that's the case, come with me to a place in a bit; someone wants to see you."
