Chapter 362
Chapter 362
Hearing her sarcastic tone, Changsheng didn't get angry; he just smiled, as if it were perfectly normal.
His face was covered by a veil, so his expression was not visible. Nalan Jingwen could only vaguely see the jawline of his upturned face, which looked as if he were naked, sickly, and emaciated.
Nalan Jingwen looked away without speaking. Changsheng's gaze lingered on a point in the room, unfocused. After a long while, his calm voice was heard: "Liu Qishan came to see me."
Nalan Jingwen paused, and Changsheng continued in an extremely calm tone, "He begged me to save you. He said that as long as you can live, he is willing to give me everything he has."
Chang Sheng chuckled softly, his emotions unreadable.
"But what use is everything he has to me? I did save him, but in return, I used him to get close to you. It's just an equal exchange."
"I'm just curious, he's waited for you for so long, wanting to stay with you, but now he's willing to give everything to a stranger to save you, even if... he'll never see you again."
"I don't understand, what gives you, Nalan Jingwen, the right?"
Power should be what everyone pursues, so why would someone be tripped up by petty love and willing to sacrifice everything?
He will not be as foolish as them, held back by so-called love. He will prove his worth with his own hands, proving that as a man, he can make everyone grovel at his feet.
Nalan Jingwen's gaze fell on him, a sour feeling welling up in her chest, and she asked, "You agreed to him?"
"Of course, otherwise why would I be here?"
Chang Sheng tilted his head and met Nalan Jingwen's dark eyes. Something seemed to have lost all its cover and been exposed to the sunlight in an instant.
Why did you agree to his offer?
“Even if he hadn’t come begging to me, I would still have come to you. But since he’s come to me, how can I refuse him?”
Changsheng looked at her, his eyes sparkling with laughter, "Besides, I want to see if he really keeps his word."
Nalan Jingwen found his smile irritating; perhaps he was making her uncomfortable, which was why he was so happy.
"What, do you need someone to keep vigil for you?"
She still clearly remembers that Ah Man once said he only had a few months left to live, and that he was almost twenty years old.
Changsheng remained expressionless, as if he didn't care about his own death, and even nodded seriously.
"That's a good idea."
"Don't worry, I will definitely bring him back before you die."
Changsheng tilted his head, looking at her with pure, untainted eyes.
"Once I have obtained this world, I will personally build a cage for him, so that he will keep his promise and guard my memorial tablet for all eternity, until death do us part."
Nalan Jingwen's eyes flashed with coldness, "That depends on whether you can live to see that day."
Is he too confident that he can take over the world in a few months?
Changsheng straightened his somewhat stiff body and leaned over her. The fragrance instantly filled his nostrils. He moved closer to Nalan Jingwen's face, the soft veil brushing against her cheek. His warm breath fell on her, and Nalan Jingwen could even see the fine downy hairs on his face.
He stared intently at her, his clear eyes reflecting Nalan Jingwen's face. The latter frowned and turned her head away, not wanting to look at him.
Chang Sheng chuckled softly, her voice lingering and alluring, "Isn't there still the Prince here?"
"A-Nian only has one wish: to conquer the world before he dies. I will definitely help A-Nian, right?"
"Get off!"
Chang Sheng smiled, and the next moment, Nalan Jingwen felt a body pressing down on him. It wasn't quite pressing down; the person on top of him was incredibly light, like a feather, floating and almost weightless. Nalan Jingwen remembered that when he held him before, he wasn't this light.
Nalan Jingwen looked down and could only see his lowered eyelashes trembling slightly, his chest rising and falling as he breathed softly, and his skin was terribly pale. He was resting on her like that.
Nalan Jingwen looked away, staring at the cobweb-covered ceiling. Only when she heard noises outside did she finally speak calmly: "Don't mention that name in front of me again."
He was no longer her Ah Nian, no longer the gentle, weak, innocent, obedient Ah Nian who depended on her for everything.
Her Ah Nian disappeared the day the truth was revealed.
The person on top of her didn't move, and it was unclear whether he had heard her or not. Aman walked in, followed by Pei Yunche, who was carrying the necessary items. Nalan Jingwen felt a lightness on her body, and Changsheng was already standing by the bedside, his clothes without a single wrinkle, as if nothing had happened.
The atmosphere inside the room was a bit strange. Aman looked them over suspiciously, but couldn't figure it out. She took the things from Pei Yunche's hands and started to shoo them away.
"Alright, all of you get out of here. You're getting in the way and hindering my performance."
Pei Yunche bit his lip, wanting to stay, but Changsheng said nothing and walked straight out. Aman waved her hand dismissively, "Hurry up and get out. If you want her to live, you'd better listen to me."
The door slammed shut with a bang. Pei Yunche stood in the courtyard, watching Changsheng being well taken care of. He was carefully helped into the sedan chair, the layers of gauze obscuring his figure. He leaned lazily against a man, gently raising his hand. His delicate, smooth hand was so alluring that countless people rushed to his aid.
Pei Yunche looked away in disgust and just waited in the courtyard, neither of them saying a word.
Only when the sun was setting and the last rays of the setting sun lingered on the horizon did the tightly closed door finally open.
Ah Man leaned against the door, wiping the sweat from her forehead with the back of her hand. "Go in."
Pei Yunche was about to go in without thinking when Chang Sheng's usual charming voice came from behind him, "Young Master Pei, it's getting late, so I'll take my leave now. I'll come back to her in a month to fulfill my promise. You must take good care of her, Young Master Pei."
Pei Yunche didn't know what deal Nalan Jingwen had made with him, and now he couldn't wait for the other party to leave. He said coldly, "You don't need to tell me."
He will take good care of Nalan Jingwen.
Having said that, he strode into the room.
Nalan Jingwen lay quietly on the bed, his eyes closed, his whole body wrapped in bandages, his long hair soaked with sweat, and his face pale. If it weren't for the slight rise and fall of his chest, one might really mistake him for a corpse.
Pei Yunche's eyes reddened even before he got close, his heartache almost overflowing. "Nalan Jingwen!"
He jogged over and carefully checked on her. Ah Man came over and said, "What are you shouting for? She's not dead, she just fainted."
As she spoke, she clicked her tongue twice, "She's quite the bearer; she's in so much pain and hasn't uttered a sound."
Nalan Jingwen was more tolerant than she had imagined. She cut open the scabbed wound and stitched it back up, enduring the pain of rebuilding flesh and bone without uttering a single cry.
He really is a pervert!
