Chapter 143
Chapter 143
Nalan Jingwen looked at him coldly, unmoved.
By then, Nalan Yin had already become the head of the Red Passion Pavilion and was capable of resisting. How could she have been surrounded and beaten by a group of palace servants, and then just happened to be seen by her?
"So you planned this all along, waiting for me to take the bait?"
His purpose was to use her influence to help him leave the palace.
Nalan Yin did not answer the question, but kept nuzzling against her, her eyes glistening with tears, and a blush gradually appearing on her cheeks.
"How about a kiss from my royal sister, Yin'er?"
Seeing his condition, Nalan Jingwen knew that the effects of the medicine were kicking in again, so she didn't press him any further. She already knew the answer; whether he admitted it or not didn't matter anymore.
However, she dislikes being schemed against or used by others, regardless of whether it is harmful to her.
She pushed him away, ignoring his pained expression, and sat down beside him with her eyes closed. She had no intention of helping him, blocked her hearing, and focused on meditation.
Seeing her like this, Nalan Yin knew that he had angered her, and for once he softened his stance.
"Elder sister, Yin'er knows she was wrong..."
"Please don't ignore Yin'er, okay..."
"Yin'er feels so bad..."
His vision grew increasingly blurry, and he could barely make out Nalan Jingwen's face. He continued to plead, occasionally letting out ambiguous gasps.
The guards outside the carriage seemed deaf, selectively ignoring what they were hearing. Hongyun rode alongside the carriage, showing no sign of distress. However, the person following not far behind the carriage froze slightly, gripping his longsword tightly, looking down at the sword with a bitter smile.
……
Without Nalan Jingwen's help, Nalan Yin was unable to find relief. He endured the remaining days by gritting his teeth. He had an extremely strong will to live, like wild grass that could not be burned out, or a stray dog struggling to survive.
He didn't completely faint until the day the drug's effects wore off, and he didn't wake up until several days later.
He looked around blankly. He was still inside the carriage, but Nalan Jingwen was nowhere to be seen.
He hurriedly got up and ran out of the carriage into the mountains and forests. His clothes hung loosely on his body. Because he was too weak, he staggered and fell several times. His fair and straight legs were scratched and bled by sharp stones. His clothes fell down halfway due to the movement, revealing his fair shoulders.
Hongyun was startled when she saw Nalan Yin. She glanced at his exposed shoulder and instinctively turned her face away, but then she saw his flustered appearance. He had clearly fallen, but he seemed not to feel it. He got up and continued forward, as if he was looking for something.
Seeing this, Hongyun immediately shouted at the surrounding guards, "Turn your eyes away!"
He then stepped forward and stopped him, asking, "Young master, are you looking for the prince?"
Nalan Yin nodded, her face pale, and immediately grabbed her arm, asking, "Where is Nalan Jingwen?"
Hongyun wanted to free her arm from his grasp. This was the prince's man, and if the prince saw her, she wouldn't have enough heads to cut off. But she didn't dare to use too much force. The man in front of her looked weak and frail, as if he could be injured easily.
"Your Highness is here..."
Before he could finish speaking, Nalan Jingwen's indifferent voice came from the other side.
"I am here."
She walked around the dense bushes and came over. Nalan Yin heard Nalan Jingwen's voice, immediately looked in the direction of the sound, and then stumbled and ran towards her.
Nalan Jing noticed his disheveled clothes, his exposed shoulder, and how he had fallen but managed to get up despite his injuries. She frowned slightly, walked over, and picked him up.
What are you doing out here?
The moment Nalan Yin saw Nalan Jingwen, her panicked heart calmed down. She buried her head in the crook of Nalan Jingwen's neck without saying a word.
Perhaps they no longer had the strength to speak.
They carried the man back into the carriage, lifted his clothes to reveal his long, slender, white legs, which were now covered in long, painful scratches from the stones.
Xiang Hongyun asked for some ointment, applied it to him, and then ordered someone to prepare food before looking at him.
"What do you want with me?"
Nalan Yin took her hand with some effort and said weakly, "Please don't be angry, Imperial Sister. Yin'er knows she was wrong."
Nalan Jingwen withdrew his hand and took the food that Hongyun handed him, placing it in front of him.
"Have a meal."
Then he pulled back the curtain and went out. Nalan Yin looked at her indifferent back and laughed softly, his eyes becoming even more strange and crazy.
This made Nalan Jingwen even more fascinated to him.
Nalan Jingwen went outside, and Hongyun immediately stepped forward and said, "Your Highness, look at the sky, it's about to rain. If we set off now, we won't be able to get down the mountain before it rains."
Nalan Jingwen looked up and saw that the sky was dark and gloomy, with rolling dark clouds and birds scattered in the forest, exuding a sinister and terrifying atmosphere. It looked like a storm was coming.
She frowned. They couldn't possibly get down the mountain to the town before it rained, but if they traveled in the rain, accidents were bound to happen.
She paused briefly and said, "Find a cave nearby to take shelter from the rain immediately, and set off again after the rain stops."
"Yes."
They quickly found a cave to take shelter from the rain, and the group hurried there. The cave was just big enough to fit all of them, while the other carriages had to stay outside. As soon as they entered the cave, a torrential downpour began.
Judging from the intensity of the rain, it probably won't stop anytime soon.
Nalan Yin sat on the rock, staring intently at Nalan Jingwen, her gaze never leaving her.
Hongyun walked over and asked hesitantly, "Your Highness, shall we let Guard Jing come in to take shelter from the rain as well?"
Nalan Jingwen remained expressionless and casually said, "Ignore him."
Hongyun didn't say anything more and withdrew.
After eating, Nalan Yin regained some strength. Seeing Nalan Jingwen's indifferent expression, she said, "Is Your Majesty really not going to let your guard in? What if something happens?"
Nalan Jingwen remained silent, showing no intention of answering his question.
He wasn't angry and continued, "The rain outside is so heavy. If this continues, even if nothing serious happens, you'll catch a cold. Is Your Highness willing to let that happen?"
Nalan Jingwen then moved and looked at him, "If you care about him so much, then go out and keep him company."
Nalan Yin smiled faintly and hugged Nalan Jingwen's arm. "Yin'er doesn't care about anyone else, only about my elder sister."
He wouldn't be so kind as to speak up for Jingchi, but he was still testing her. He wished she had no men around her at all.
Nalan Jingwen withdrew his hand and looked at the rain curtain outside the cave, which had blurred everything, his expression unreadable.
After a long while, the rain grew heavier and heavier, showing no sign of stopping. Nalan Jingwen had a vague premonition of something bad.
Just as I was about to get up, I heard a loud bang.
