Chapter 126
Chapter 126
Nalan Jingwen frowned and remained silent for a long time.
"Do you need my help?"
Jingchi gazed at her, a look of expectation flashing in his eyes, then clenched the medicine in his palm, lowered his eyes, and pursed his lips, remaining silent.
Nalan Jingwen caught a glimpse of the bottle of medicine in his hand out of the corner of her eye; it was the same bottle she had given him a few days ago.
He didn't speak, and Nalan Jingwen didn't move either, just staring at him.
The two looked at each other in silence. When Nalan Jing realized that he had no intention of speaking, he turned and left.
Jingchi simply watched her departing figure, a hint of disappointment flashing in his eyes. He opened his mouth, but remained silent.
After leaving the room, Nalan Jingwen went straight back to his own room. As soon as he entered, he saw Nalan Yin sitting at the table in a daze. On the table was the pear cake that she had given him yesterday. The servants beside him all had their heads down and dared not look at it.
She walked over, dismissed the servants, and then sat down on another stool. Nalan Yin came to her senses, her face no longer blank and bewildered, but with the smile she knew well.
"Why aren't you in bed if you're injured?"
Nalan Yin looked at her and said, "I just received an imperial edict."
Nalan Jingwen nodded, showing no surprise whatsoever.
"After you marry Helian Ziyu, I will divorce you two years later."
"For the next two years, I will find someone to replace you in Sushui, and you can go wherever you want, as long as you don't reveal your identity. With your abilities, this should be very simple, right?"
Nalan Jingwen spoke calmly, his expression serene.
Nalan Yin gazed at him with her beautiful eyes, the smile on her lips faded, and her eyes seemed shrouded in a thin mist, making it impossible to see her expression.
Nalan Jingwen didn't look at him, but instead looked at the pear cakes on the table. She counted them and found that only one piece was missing.
"do not like to eat?"
Nalan Yin followed her gaze and was slightly taken aback.
"You bought this especially for me?"
Nalan Jing pondered for a moment and said, "I suppose so."
"But it tastes best when it's hot. Yours has been sitting overnight, so just throw it away."
As she spoke, she picked up the pear cake and was about to throw it away, but Nalan Yin grabbed her wrist.
"What you gave me is mine. You are not allowed to throw it away even if it is rotten and smelly without my permission."
He looked at her with a serious expression, not as if he were joking.
Nalan Jingwen was slightly taken aback. He glanced at the pear cake, but ultimately put it back.
Nalan Yin placed the pear cake in front of herself, far away from her, as if afraid that she would throw it away again.
"Leftover food can cause stomach upset."
Nalan Yin lowered her eyes and said softly, "It's none of your business."
"It's only been one night, it won't kill anyone. I've eaten food that's been sitting for much longer than this, it's nothing."
Nalan Jingwen remained silent. In the more than ten years he had spent in the palace, in order to survive, he would probably eat anything, no matter how bad it was, as long as it filled his stomach.
The former Jing'an Palace was not a cold palace, but it was even more like one.
Because of the harsh treatment from the palace servants, they probably didn't even have rotten food to eat many times.
Nalan Jing sighed and said, "If you want to eat this later, I'll buy it for you. You can't eat this now."
Nalan Yin raised her eyes, and a beam of light seemed to gather in her dark pupils, bright but quickly extinguished, before she lowered her eyes again.
"no need."
"You're unhappy? You can leave the palace now, why are you unhappy?"
Nalan Jingwen frowned and stared at him.
Nalan Yin then looked up, stared at her for a long while, and slowly said, "Would you look down on a man who has been divorced?"
Nalan Jingwen frowned even more, not understanding why he would ask such a question.
"Other people's affairs are none of my business. Whether it is being divorced or being separated, it is only because of incompatibility or other reasons. Being divorced does not mean anything."
Nalan Yin was slightly taken aback. "Then can you accept a man who has been divorced?"
Nalan Jingwen was silent for a moment, then slowly said, "Most of the men who are divorced nowadays are divorced because their wives have taken a new one. If I were to fall in love with a man who has been married before, I would cherish him even more and try to make up for the pain he suffered in the past."
Nalan Yin was probably hearing this for the first time, and he stood there stunned for a long time, seemingly lost in thought.
"So, you can accept a man who has been divorced?"
"On the condition that I love him."
When you love someone, you won't care about their past; you'll only blame yourself for not being there sooner.
Love is guilt, and it is also heartache.
Nalan Yin suddenly laughed, her eyes glistening with tears, but it was unclear why she was laughing.
Nalan Jingwen stared at him without saying a word.
The laughter gradually subsided, and Nalan Yin looked at her, saying, "You came to see me because you have some questions for me, right?"
"Let me guess, what do you want to ask me?"
"Are you asking me why I know so much? Or are you asking about the power behind me?"
Nalan Yin smiled strangely, his voice ethereal, as he stared intently at her.
"What do you want to know?"
Nalan Jing met his gaze and said, "Tell me whatever you want to know?"
"of course not."
He got up and sat on Nalan Jingwen's lap. He was only wearing a thin inner garment and an outer coat draped over his shoulders, so he could easily feel Nalan Jingwen's warm body temperature.
Nalan Jingwen frowned. "Get out of here."
Nalan Yin just smiled, leaned closer, and his warm breath sprayed on her face. Nalan Jingwen tilted her head slightly.
"If you want to know, then become mine, and I will tell you anything you want to know, including myself. I will give you everything."
"How about this deal? But you can only have me. As for the others, I can take care of them for you."
A dark glint flashed in his eyes, and his voice carried a dangerous undertone.
Nalan Jingwen grabbed his mischievous hand and looked at him with a stern face.
"I refuse."
"why?"
"It is impossible for me to have only one person by my side. I cannot part with any of them."
"Furthermore, you and I are siblings, and I would never have any thoughts about my own brother!"
If she weren't afraid of aggravating his wound, she would have thrown him off her lap long ago.
Nalan Yin seemed oblivious to the pain in her wrist, staring intently at her as if trying to discern the truth in her words.
He tilted his head, rarely showing such an innocent and bewildered expression.
"Why can't siblings be together?"
Why should we be bound by worldly conventions?
Nalan Jingwen had a slight headache. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed that the wrist she was holding was red, which stood out starkly against her fair skin. She loosened her grip a little.
Nalan Yin continued, "If you agree to my request, I can give you whatever you want."
Nalan Jingwen's eyes flashed with danger. "Do you know what I want?"
"Didn't you already guess it?"
"As you wish."
Nalan Yin smiled, looking incredibly beautiful. Her smile was pure and innocent, without a trace of impurity, dazzling to the eye.
"Red Passion Pavilion is indeed mine."
