Magical Journey: The Other Shore Blooms on the Other Shore

Chapter 167 The Frozen Kingdom (Part 3)

Chapter 167 The Frozen Kingdom (Part 3)

The story of this kingdom being frozen in ice dates back several years.

On an ordinary day, an unprecedented pandemic suddenly broke out in this country, which should have been as ordinary as it is now.

No matter what potion or healing magic is used, this plague can take lives in just a few days. Once infected, death is inevitable.

For a time, the entire kingdom was gripped by fear. Faced with such a catastrophe, some wise people left as soon as possible, hoping to be taken in by other kingdoms, while many more were unable to leave in time.

After all, most people's roots are here, and not everyone has the right to leave.

Helpless against the plague, the people, in their fear, turned their anger towards Ludra, the kingdom's only great witch. They claimed that Ludra had unleashed the plague, bringing disaster upon the kingdom.

After all, only a seasoned great witch like Ludra could unleash such a terrifying plague. People trapped in fear never need the truth, but rather an outlet to release their stress.

Ludra was simply fortunate enough to become the target of Ludra's anger.

Even though the entire kingdom resented her, the king who used to respect her and regard her as his mentor began to distance himself from her, and her neighbors who had previously received Ludra's favors began to despise her, she still devoted herself to studying the source of the plague.

She didn't care about other people's opinions; all she knew was that she was born into this kingdom, and therefore she had to do everything in her power for it.

Her teacher passed away a few years ago, entrusting this kingdom to her, and she did not want to betray his trust.

Exploring the source of pollution is the only way for this kingdom to survive. If the source is not discovered, the kingdom will soon become a dead city.

Even with all his efforts, Ludra could only trace the source of the pollution to the river on which the kingdom depended for survival. The river contained a large amount of harmful magical filth, clearly waste dumped by a kingdom upstream that was refining magic.

Upstream of this river, there is only one kingdom.

East, the city of faith.

Even though the source of the plague was known and the development of an antidote seemed a long way off, time was of the essence, and almost everyone in the kingdom had been infected with the plague.

To buy more time, she cast a freezing spell on the kingdom, freezing time in place so she could develop an antidote—but the people didn't understand. They thought Ludra had finally revealed her true colors, and in despair, Ludra turned everyone into ice sculptures.

About a year later, Ludra finally developed the antidote.

After transforming the antidote into a snowfall that blanketed the kingdom, she gradually lost consciousness. Long ago, she had realized she was being corrupted by this magical filth, and it was only through sheer willpower that she completed the work of developing the antidote. Now, the corruption had deepened to an irreversible point; even her suicidal thoughts had crumbled, let alone the will to thaw the kingdom.

She had foreseen this ending long ago, and had written a suicide note in advance. After anticipating the worst outcome, she asked the person who would kill her to do so, and at the same time, she prepared a plan to exploit her fatal weakness.

And this is the truth about the entire Frozen Kingdom.

Everything was destined to end in death, and even Ludela never expected to wake up again. But with his limbs severed and his eyes blind, he was truly a pitiful sight.

“The outside is gradually being unsealed,” Elena said, handing over a bottle of dark magic potion. She saw the “suicide note” left behind by Ludra, which explained the origin of the Frozen Kingdom and the things Ludra entrusted to her. It also contained a spell to break the ice spell.

When she developed the antidote, she had almost no energy left to break the spell.

"Thank you." Ludra took the potion from Elena.

Needless to say, this was a special medicine prescribed by the other party specifically for her condition.

I know my own body best. The antidote I developed was completely ineffective for someone like me who had been infected for so long. This medicine was clearly prescribed by the other party.

She drank the medicine without any suspicion, and the pain in her body was relieved slightly.

“Thank you for saving me,” Ludela said.

“Thank Qin if you want to thank her,” Elena said. “But… there are some things I still have to say. You should know that many things about your body are beyond repair.”

“Actually, I should have died,” Ludra chuckled. Sometimes, living like this, half-dead, is worse than death, but you can’t exactly blame the other person for saving you. “In any case, please accept my gratitude. I have nothing to repay you with; you must be a witch too.”

Elena nodded.

"While it's not exactly a thank you, you can find the room where I left my letters, and on the bookshelves are some of my insights into magic and some of my teacher's notes. You can take them all."

If they didn't save her, Elena could just take everything. After all, the things were there; they weren't going to grow legs and run away.

But Ludra couldn't offer anything else.

"Ludra, I know you're in there! You demon of the kingdom, come out!" A commotion arose outside the door.

"We must execute this scourge upon the kingdom!"

"Kill that demon, Ludra."

It seems that the unsealing magic was unsealed exceptionally quickly.

Elena had only been casting the spell for ten minutes.

However, the resentment towards Ludra spread here even faster than the lifting of the lockdown.

Ludela heard it too, and shook his head helplessly.

It seems like they're pretending not to care.

"Was it worth it?" was the question that Jyn asked, and then he burned the suicide letter that Ludra had written in front of her with a match.

“It’s always a bit foolish to do something and then ask if it was worth it, isn’t it?” Ludela chuckled. “At least before I did it, I thought it was worth it, but now—that doesn’t matter anymore.”

"Let me ask you another question. What do you want to do in the future?" Qin continued to ask.

“You’ve given me another life—I want to live a little longer,” Ludra said. “Please do me another favor and take me to the nearest branch of the Magic Integration Association. I have some friends there.”

"I think I will stay there and give off some final bit of energy. I hope that my departure will be the last good thing I do for this kingdom."
