Chapter 1223 - 1212: Never Living in Aggrievement
Chapter 1223 - 1212: Never Living in Aggrievement
"No evidence, it’s all nonsense from me. Could it be that the manager really embezzled?" Ye Qiu looked at him with big, innocent eyes and then smiled, "The manager wouldn’t try to mess with me again after hearing this, right? I’ve resigned, so it doesn’t matter to me. I wonder if I casually mention something to the boss one day, would the boss believe it?"
Zhao Sen took a deep breath: "You are no longer an employee of the company, please pack up your things and leave as soon as possible."
Ye Qiu stood up with a smile: "As expected of someone who has reached the position of manager, truly broad-minded. Well then, Manager, Sister Wang, let’s hope we never see each other again in the future?"
Ye Qiu slowly packed her things. No one in the office dared to approach her. Their eyes were filled with admiration and fear. They wouldn’t dare provoke someone like her, knowing she’d inevitably suffer in society. If they accidentally provoked her, with her temperament like that of mutual destruction, they’d end up in trouble themselves. No matter how good-looking she was, it was useless.
Ye Qiu left the company with a sense of relief. She didn’t want to return to a place filled with manipulations, nor did she want to encounter disgusting people like Zhao Sen and Wang Lidan again.
But if the original owner hadn’t been careful, she might have fallen for Zhao Sen and Wang Lidan’s schemes long ago. She wasn’t going to let them off easily. After returning to her rental house, she tapped away on her computer and found Wang Lidan’s account, then traced it to her boyfriend’s. She anonymously sent a message to her boyfriend. What her boyfriend did wasn’t Ye Qiu’s concern anymore.
Then she followed Zhao Sen’s account to find the company’s boss’s account and sent over a spreadsheet showing the market prices of the company supplies Zhao Sen purchased during this period before shutting down her computer to look for a house.
The original owner had no money and didn’t have a good relationship with the people in the dormitory, so she always rented the cheapest place. Not only did it lack sunlight, the place was also very rundown with not even a decent piece of furniture. Her task in this life was not to live a stifling existence. How could she not feel stifled living in such a place?
Luckily, Zhao Sen settled her salary with four thousand yuan, and her studio was supposed to settle her payment tomorrow. With money, of course, she’d live in the most comfortable place.
After leaving home, Ye Qiu contacted a real estate agent. Because she had a clear goal, the agent quickly introduced her to two properties.
One was in the city center, very convenient for transportation and daily living, with luxurious decorations. However, the recreational area within the community was small, and the house was by the road, meaning it’d be quite dusty. The other was on the border between the city and suburbs. The price wasn’t much cheaper, but the area was more than twice as big as the previous one. The community facilities and security were very good, with a subway station and a large supermarket nearby, making it convenient.
"Take me to see the second one!" Because of her sophisticated attire and good demeanor, the agent was very patient.
"Miss Ye, although this place is near the suburbs, it’s right next to a university town. It’s very convenient no matter what you’re doing. Plus, the residents of this community are either professors or lecturers from the university town or students, so you can rest assured about the quality of your neighbors," the agent introduced enthusiastically.
"Why is the landlord renting out such a good house?"
"The previous owner was a wealthy person who bought this house specifically for their child’s schooling. After graduating, they no longer needed it and sold it. Then, an old professor next door bought it for investment purposes, so you don’t need to worry about the landlord causing trouble or arbitrarily raising the rent."
"Sounds good."
"Here it is. Not to mention anything else, the greenery in this community is gorgeous, and the house decoration is really nice. If it weren’t for the inconvenience of my job commute, I’d have wanted to rent here myself!"
The agent opened the door, and Ye Qiu glanced in, finding it as good as described.
First, the place was very clean, giving a good initial impression. Secondly, all the sofas and appliances were covered with dust cloths, saving her the trouble of replacing and cleaning them when moving in. Then there were the space and decoration styles.
The house was about a hundred square meters but only partitioned into two rooms: a bedroom and a dressing room. The remaining areas like the kitchen, study, and leisure zone were open-plan, making it look spacious and grand. The main decoration color theme was light gray, which suited Ye Qiu’s taste very well.
"Because it only has one bedroom, it stayed available this long, and the price is lower than similar properties in the community. Miss Ye, if you plan to live alone, it’s an excellent deal."
"It’s indeed nice. Where’s the landlord? Let’s sign the lease now!" Ye Qiu nodded.
Seeing her being so straightforward, the agent was overjoyed. Although commissions from rentals are meager compared to sales, this was the first time he’d encountered such a straightforward renter like Ye Qiu. If all future renters were like this, he’d happily do introductions every day!
However, the agent didn’t agree immediately and awkwardly said, "Miss Ye, there’s a prerequisite I didn’t mention earlier. The landlord is a bit picky. Although the rent is cheap, he said he needs to meet the tenant in person and be satisfied before renting it out."
"No problem, when is he coming?"
Seeing she wasn’t upset, the agent sighed in relief: "He’s on his way; he just texted me that he’ll be here soon. Miss Ye, may I introduce you again until he arrives?"
"No need, I’ll just have a look around myself." Ye Qiu took a walk around the house, feeling more satisfied with each glance. She thought that if she had the money in the future, she wondered if the landlord would be willing to sell it to her.
The agent followed her and continued, "But with someone like Miss Ye, the landlord will definitely agree, and because the landlord is so demanding, it’ll be easier to get along in the future, right?"
"You’ve got a point." Ye Qiu chuckled. She suspected the landlord didn’t buy this house for investment but because he wanted a good neighbor. If she met the landlord’s requirements, there might be a chance to buy it later on.
A few minutes later, the landlord rushed in, surprising Ye Qiu that it turned out to be someone she knew.
"Is the tenant the agent mentioned you?"
"Professor An?" Ye Qiu was also taken aback, then showed a warm smile, "It’s me who wants to rent the professor’s house."
"You two know each other?" The agent asked in surprise.
Professor An looked at Ye Qiu with a kindly expression: "This is my student."
The agent clapped his hands: "That’s perfect. A student renting a teacher’s house, there won’t be any conflicts in the future."
"Made some money?" Professor An asked as he looked at Ye Qiu.
"Yes." Ye Qiu nodded earnestly.
"That’s good. So now are you interested in enrolling in my program?"
"Aren’t you mad at me, professor?" she asked, embarrassed.
"How could I be angry with a student I think highly of? If you truly wasted your talent and went to find just any job, then I’d be really upset."
"But I’ve already missed the postgraduate exam."
Professor An laughed, "Getting a spot for a student I value is easy. But if you’re embarrassed, you can join my research group for now, and next year you can formally take the exam."
Ye Qiu looked at Professor An’s sincere smile: "Then I’ll follow the professor’s advice. Thank you for not minding, professor. I’m ready to follow your arrangements anytime."
"Alright, let’s sign the rental contract first." Professor An said, fearing she’d change her mind, and living next door to him meant he wouldn’t worry anymore.
