Chapter 107 Another Egg
Chapter 107 Another Egg
Bai Yu's body trembled slightly, a sense of tension coursing through him like an electric current. He struggled to control his body, preventing fear from dictating his actions. He took a deep breath and slowly raised his two tiger-like arms, displaying the two differently colored bracelets on his wrists to Obsidian.
“This is…” Obsidian’s gaze fell on the two bracelets, a hint of doubt flashing in his eyes.
Bai Yu didn't speak; he gently bumped his two wrists together.
"Click!"
A crisp metallic clang echoed through the empty obsidian palace. Though the sound was not loud, it carried an indescribable sense of mystery.
In that instant, the entire Obsidian Palace seemed to be enveloped by an invisible force, and time, space, and everything else froze. Cheng Yu, Xing Luo, and even Obsidian itself, were frozen in place, as if a pause button had been pressed, remaining motionless in their previous positions.
Bai Yu, however, remained unaffected by this power and could still move freely. He strolled slowly through the palace, looking at the stillness around him, feeling a sense of relaxation.
This is his own spacetime power. Although it looks pretty awesome, you have to be able to kill your enemy within this time period, or you have to run away as soon as possible. But he doesn't think he can run away or kill his opponent right now. He just needs to stay put.
About fifteen seconds later, this static force began to dissipate. Like a shrinking sphere, it started from the edge of the palace and converged towards the two bracelets on Bai Yu's wrist, finally disappearing completely at the point where the two bracelets met.
Everything has returned to normal.
A flicker of surprise crossed Obsidian's eyes, but he quickly regained his composure. He looked at Bai Yu with a scrutinizing gaze.
"You...can you really manipulate space and time?" Obsidian's voice was deep and magnetic, with a slight, almost imperceptible tremor.
“Yes,” Bai Yu nodded, “Although I cannot fully control this power, at least I can prove that I am a time traveler.”
Obsidian was silent for a moment, seemingly deep in thought.
“I believe you,” he said slowly. “However, I cannot easily let you leave if you have any connection with the White Dragon Clan.”
His tone carried an undeniable air of authority.
"What do you want us to do?" Cheng Yu asked.
“Within three days,” Obsidian held up three fingers, “find a special white dragon beastman, and then return here. If you can’t do that…”
A ruthless glint flashed in his eyes. "I will find you soon and make you understand the price of breaking your promises."
Cheng Yu and Bai Yu exchanged a glance, both seeing seriousness in each other's eyes. They knew that Obsidian was not joking.
“Okay, we agree.” Cheng Yu nodded. “But you have to tell us, what are the characteristics of that special white dragon beastman?”
“He…” A complex emotion flashed in Obsidian’s eyes, “He is different from the other white dragon beastmen, he… never mind, you’ll know when you meet him.”
He seemed unwilling to say more, and simply waved his hand, indicating that Cheng Yu and the others could leave.
Cheng Yu and Bai Yu, holding Xing Luo's hand, left the Obsidian Palace under Hei Yao's watchful gaze.
When they stepped out of the cave and saw the sunlight outside, they all felt as if they had been transported to another world.
"What do we do now?" Xingluo asked. "Where do we find that special white dragon beastman?"
“I don’t know,” Cheng Yu shook his head, “but we must find him as soon as possible, otherwise…”
He didn't finish his sentence, but everyone understood that if they couldn't fulfill Obsidian's demands within three days, the consequences would be dire.
“Let’s leave here first,” Bai Yu said. “It’s too dangerous here. We need to find a safe place before we make any further plans.”
The three of them retraced their steps and returned to the bear tribe.
Shortly after they left, Obsidian reappeared in the Obsidian Palace. He looked in the direction Cheng Yu and the others had gone, his eyes filled with complex emotions.
"I hope you succeed..." he muttered to himself, "otherwise, I will have no choice but to kill you as a sacrifice."
He walked to the platform in the center of the palace and gently waved his hand. The giant egg that had disappeared reappeared on the platform.
He looked at the giant egg, his eyes filled with tenderness and anticipation.
"Child, when will you hatch?" He gently stroked the giant egg, a hint of sadness in his voice. "I've been waiting for you... for far too long..."
He sighed, then turned and left the palace. With his departure, the cave was sealed away once more, as if it had never existed.
The giant egg still lies quietly on the platform, waiting for the day it will hatch.
After Cheng Yu and his two companions returned to the Bear Tribe, they were warmly received by the Bear Beastman leader.
"You're back!" the bear-orc chieftain exclaimed happily. "How was it? Did you find the obsidian?"
“Found it,” Cheng Yu nodded, “but we’ve run into some trouble.”
He briefly recounted their encounter in the Obsidian Palace to the bear-beastman leader.
"What?!" The bear-beastman leader's eyes widened in shock upon hearing this. "You actually encountered Lord Obsidian?!"
"Lord Obsidian?" Cheng Yu asked in confusion, "You know him?"
“Yes,” the bear-orc chieftain nodded, “He is the founder of the Black Dragon tribe, the guardian of this region, and a powerful ally of our tribe.”
He hesitated for a moment, but decided to tell Cheng Yu and the others the truth.
“Actually, this region was not as beautiful as it used to be; it was a… desolate place,” he said slowly. “Back then, not even grass could grow here, and powerful monsters lived everywhere. Ordinary orcs simply could not live here.”
"And then?" Cheng Yu and Bai Yu exchanged a glance, both seeing shock in each other's eyes.
"Then Lord Obsidian came to this land," the bear-beastman leader continued. "He gave this land new life, and that's why it is what it is today. The powerful magical beasts were also dealt with by Lord Obsidian and can no longer threaten the people here."
"But according to what you're saying, shouldn't Obsidian be a very kind dragon? Then why did he enslave White Dragon?" Cheng Yu immediately asked, determined to resolve his doubts.
"Slave White Dragon? Heh~ How can they be slaves? They deserve to be slaves. They are the root of all evil, the cause of everything getting worse. Shouldn't such creatures be locked up?" Although the chief of the Bear Beastman tribe was very grateful to Cheng Yu for treating him, he couldn't help but be angry about this. If it weren't for the White Dragon, he wouldn't have been injured.
"However, I heard from my ancestors that Obsidian didn't completely exterminate the White Dragon. He even blessed a few White Dragon Beastmen, which gave them a clearer mind. But these guys are truly ungrateful! They actually overthrew the Black Dragon's rule after Lord Obsidian disappeared, then seized power and became the new overlords of this land." The Bear Beastman tribe leader became angrier and angrier as he spoke. He wished he could continue fighting the White Dragon right now; he had to tear the other's face apart.
"A white dragon beastman?!" Cheng Yu exclaimed in surprise. "Could this be the person Obsidian asked us to find?"
“I don’t know,” the bear-orc leader shook his head. “I only know that Lord Obsidian has always been protecting this place, even though it’s gone. Perhaps he has something more important to do.”
"So what do we do now?" Xingluo asked. "Do we still need to go find that special white dragon beastman?"
"Of course we have to find him!" Cheng Yu said firmly. "We must help Lord Obsidian. These despicable white dragons will know what regret is!" Cheng Yu looked as if he greatly admired Obsidian.
“But we have no idea where that special white dragon beastman is!” Xingluo continued.
"Haha, we haven't even gone to the White Dragon Tribe yet. Once we get there, we'll know who that White Dragon Beastman that Obsidian was talking about is!" Cheng Yu said. "Alright, alright, don't be so dejected. I believe that as long as we finish Obsidian's task, he won't do anything to us."
"Haha~ Yes, yes, I believe Lord Obsidian. He was just joking with you. Perhaps you can ask the other members of our tribe. Although I am the chief, I may not know everything."
So the three of them went back to the bear tribe to inquire. They asked every member of the bear tribe they encountered if they had seen a special white dragon beastman.
However, to their disappointment, everyone said they had never seen such a person before.
"What do we do?" Xingluo said, somewhat dejectedly. "Are we going to lose him?"
"Don't be discouraged," Cheng Yu comforted him, "We still have time, we will definitely find him!"
Just then, a familiar voice rang out behind them.
"Who are you looking for? I saw you wandering around the tribe asking questions after you came out of my father's tent. I want to ask you what exactly you are asking?"
The three turned around and saw that it was actually the son of the bear-beastman leader.
“Xiong Tian!” Cheng Yu said, “We’re looking for a special white dragon beastman. Have you seen him?”
"A special white dragon beastman?" Xiong Tian frowned. "Let me think..."
He pondered for a moment, then suddenly his eyes lit up.
“I remember now!” he said. “I once heard one of my brothers say that he was a bit too daring. He actually broke into the White Dragon tribe, but he also gained something there. Apparently, many of the white dragons were controlled by one of them. However, these white dragons have their own normal thinking. Perhaps this is the white dragon you are looking for.”
"Can control other white dragons?" Cheng Yu and Bai Yu exchanged a glance. "This seems a bit difficult!"
“Wait a minute,” Xiong Tian said, “I’ll give you a map with the location of the White Dragon Tribe marked on it.”
He took out a map made of animal hide from his pocket and handed it to Cheng Yu.
"Thank you, Xiong Tian!" Cheng Yu said gratefully.
"Don't mention it, after all, you saved my father!" said the bear-beastman leader. "Good luck!"
The three bid farewell to the bear-orc leader and, carrying a map, embarked on their journey to the East.
They traversed forests, crossed rivers, and climbed hills, finally arriving at the White Dragon Tribe marked on the map on the evening of the third day.
It was a huge tribe, situated on a vast plain. Surrounding the tribe was an endless grassland, and in the distance, a towering mountain peak reached into the clouds.
"Is this the White Dragon Tribe?" Xingluo exclaimed excitedly. "It looks so magnificent!"
“Let’s go in and take a look,” Cheng Yu said. “Hopefully we can find the person we’re looking for here.”
The three entered the White Dragon Tribe and found it to be completely different from the Bear Tribe. The people here were all White Dragon Beastmen, tall with fair skin and a pair of white dragon horns on their heads.
"Who are you?" a white dragon orc guard stopped them. "What are you doing here?"
“We are merchants,” Cheng Yu replied immediately. “We have rare materials from all over the world.”
