Chapter 355 The Upside-Down Abyss
Chapter 355 The Upside-Down Abyss
Lorraine's strength far surpassed that of ordinary people; the stone he threw only landed at the very bottom of the portal's steps...
After observing, Lorraine concluded that unless one flew across, mortals would be like ants, utterly incapable of reaching the bottom of the portal. While curious about where the majestic portal led, Lorraine was more concerned with whether the Faceless Ones had obtained the Bloodstone Egg.
The Faceless One's body flexibility is also astonishing; its tentacles can extend for tens of meters... I wonder if such tentacles are edible; with such elasticity and extensibility, the flesh must be incredibly chewy...
Random thoughts flashed through my mind.
Lorraine wanted to slap herself. The Bloodstone Egg had been taken back by the Faceless One. Was she safe?
If you don't go now, when will you wait?
Turning back, he witnessed the Bloodstone Egg return to the monster's hands. Lorraine was filled with resentment, but there was nothing he could do... The difference in strength was too great; he was simply no match for the Faceless One. At least for now, he had tried everything he could but had been unable to inflict any damage on it.
The opponent's ability to devour flesh and energy is simply unsolvable.
Like a black hole... light, matter, flesh and blood!
It devours everything, and its own body seems to be just a ball... Where did such a creature come from?
Lorraine couldn't understand it. Could the Bloodstone Egg really transform into a Faceless One simply by absorbing the Forsaken or the undead servants it summoned? Wouldn't such a thing be extremely dangerous?
What does the Queen need this for?
Will they bring about their own destruction?
Can the power of the Bloodstone Egg truly be controlled?
Should I destroy it? Thank goodness it wasn't taken by the Kirin Tor human mages... Not to mention, Faceless Ones also absorb magic; if a mortal came into contact with it, they'd be drained dry...
In desperation, Lorraine was already preparing to escape...
Unfortunately, in the enormous passageway, he didn't know where to run. The surrounding space was like inside a mountain, with passages everywhere, gaps to squeeze through above and below, but he just didn't know which one was the way to escape.
Based on the light reflected from the crystal, Lorraine roughly judged that as long as he stayed away from the ancient and mysterious giant portal and crawled into the crevice in the ground at a higher elevation, he might be able to leave.
As far as I can remember, while I was fleeing, I kept jumping downwards...
A high platform, some cracks, continuous, water flowing downwards... so the top of your head must be looking upwards.
When I was contemplating leaving, I had only walked a hundred meters...
The Faceless One emitted a signal like infrasound, so powerful that Lorraine almost fell over, his head throbbing with pain. Lorraine turned around for a closer look and saw the ferocious, invincible Faceless One lying paralyzed on the ground, its tentacles severed... The steps where the Bloodstone Egg was located seemed sacred and inviolable.
As soon as its outstretched tentacles reached the steps, the surrounding crystals emitted scorching white light, instantly severing the tentacles and melting them away...
The Bloodstone Egg lay quietly in place. Lorraine was surprised to find that after the Faceless One frantically approached the steps, it seemed to be imprisoned by something and was struggling helplessly, releasing black energy clusters to impact a layer of light-cast film.
Lorraine, enjoying the spectacle, seized the opportunity to try and retrieve the fragments of Atiesh... even just a few more, as evidence to report back to Lady Aegwynn...
Lorraine forgot that if the Faceless Ones who had driven him to the brink of despair were all imprisoned, wouldn't his audacious approach to the steps of the mysterious portal be nothing short of courting death?
Lorraine, who was about thirty yards away from the Faceless One, was about to touch the Atiesh shards he had accidentally shattered when, in the next second, a glowing rope shot out from the corner and instantly entangled him.
Lorraine didn't even have time to scream before he was swept up at high speed...
Suddenly lifted high into the air, Lorraine was quickly coiled up, the glowing rope seeming to come alive, wrapping around him from head to toe... quickly binding him like a dumpling... leaving only a narrow, obscuring gap, the glowing rope clinging to his body...
Tight, burning...
Lorraine's injured body was scorching and smoking. He discovered that the ropes of light binding him possessed inherent light properties... burning his undead body. Strangely, however, this burning wasn't as painful as holy light magic; instead, it felt somewhat warm.
He clearly felt his body being corroded by the light, yet his vitality was actually increasing...
Is it a bad thing for a necromancer to have increased vitality...?
Soon Lorraine felt herself being hung upside down, her head pointing downwards.
Through the crack, Lorraine felt as if he were suspended on the cliff face of an abyss... There seemed to be many enormous creatures moving around him, and he could vaguely see several thin, rod-like objects swaying back and forth in front of his eyes...
When he shook it inadvertently, he caught a glimpse of strange faces... close to his head, he seemed to see eight small, purple, horny heads with vertical eyes observing him.
The surrounding light was sometimes bright and sometimes dim.
Lorraine felt himself being pulled by a force, swaying and moving forward, hanging upside down... He could feel the air flowing above his head... He was being grabbed by a giant creature and moved rapidly while suspended on the rock wall.
Occasionally, a delicate fragrance wafts from the cliff face...
Sometimes a fluorescent powder would hit him, and the creatures that moved Lorraine would make a soft, grinding sound, which made Lorraine feel very uncomfortable.
He suspected he had been preyed upon by some underground creature. His teacher had said that spider demons had a habit of using silk to entangle their prey and store food. To make their prey taste better, they would also inject toxins into the bodies of their webbed creatures, causing them to ferment and dissolve...
In order to suckle liquid food...
After judging and sensing, Lorraine was certain that he had been captured by a giant spider-like monster... because he could see the spider silk path on the cliff face by the light of the crystal.
Feeling dizzy and disoriented, I was at a loss.
Half an hour later, Lorraine felt herself stop. Peeking through the crack, she saw countless other creatures wrapped up like herself, suspended atop Spiderweb Cliff...
More slender, long, and sharp legs passed by...
Lorraine sensed something was wrong; had they stumbled into the lair of spider demon predators?
He thrashed about, only to have a slender leg suddenly poke him. Lorraine felt a warmth seep into her heart, followed by numbness and dizziness. This was poison, a paralyzing poison, a deadly poison.
Poisons are actually classified into many categories, each with different effects.
However, regardless of the type of toxin, eliminating it as soon as possible is absolutely the best option. Once the toxin takes effect, it is fatal and long-lastingly destructive... Feeling warmth is not necessarily a good thing; it could very well be a symptom of poisoning.
Just as he was pondering and trying to use any useful items on his person to find a way to escape.
But then a familiar yet unfamiliar voice reached his ears: "The gate has been breached? Does this mean our clan's millennia-old pact is now complete?"
