Chapter 337: I do not bargain
Chapter 337: I do not bargain
Lina jolted upright.
"Who’s there?"
Her eyes darted around the dim prison cell as panic surged through her chest. She searched every shadow, every corner, but saw no one.
The voice seemed to come from nowhere and everywhere at once.
"I am a god."
The voice was deep and imposing, carrying an authority that made resistance feel impossible.
"I can heal your broken body. I can free you from this place. I can even help you take revenge."
Lina’s heart skipped a beat.
"Really?"
Doubt lingered in her eyes.
"Of course." The answer came without hesitation.
She remained wary. "Why should I believe you?"
A cold chuckle echoed through the dungeon.
Moments later, a male beastfolk walked into the cell. The moment Lina recognized him, terror seized her entire body.
It was the same male who had tortured her the previous day.
Her face drained of color as she trembled uncontrollably.
Then the voice spoke again.
"Die."
The command was calm and merciless. Before her eyes, the male suddenly turned the weapon in his hand upon himself. Blood splattered across the stone floor. His body collapsed with a heavy thud.
Silence followed. The air seemed to freeze.
"Do you believe me now?" The voice sounded again.
Lina stared at the corpse in shock.
A single sentence had ended the life of a powerful beastfolk. At last, genuine belief began to take root.
"Can you really help me?"
She looked around again, still unable to find the speaker.
Could this truly be a god?
"Yes." The answer came immediately. "But I have a condition."
Her heartbeat quickened. "What condition?"
The voice grew colder. "Offer me your soul. Become my servant. In exchange, I will heal your body, free you from this prison, and grant you the power to take revenge on Nina."
Lina froze. "My soul?"
Fear crept across her face, yet alongside that fear came temptation.
The promise of healing. The promise of escape. The promise of vengeance.
All three struck directly at the deepest desires buried in her heart.
"If you wish to receive divine blessings, a price must be paid."
Mockery colored the god’s tone.
"Do you truly wish to remain here forever? Do you not want revenge against Nina? The opportunity granted by a god comes only once. Miss it, and it will never return."
Hidden behind his words was absolute confidence.
He had sensed the darkness festering inside her. He had felt the hatred consuming her soul. He knew she would eventually yield.
Lina bit her lip. She did not want to surrender her soul.
Yet the thought of spending the rest of her life in this horrific place filled her with dread.
"Can we negotiate another condition?" Her voice shook. "If you send me back to Spirit Stone City, I can reward you. I am a noble female. I can offer you wealth, resources, anything you want."
A contemptuous laugh echoed through the dungeon.
"If you lack sincerity, then remain here and wait for death."
The voice turned icy. "I do not bargain. What a waste of my time."
As a god, he lacked nothing. Her offer sounded laughably insignificant. To him, she was merely weak, ignorant, and desperate.
Panic flashed across Lina’s face.
"Wait. Please. Give me a little more time to think."
A snort of impatience answered her.
"If you refuse, countless others would gladly accept. I have no interest in waiting. This is your final chance. Will you offer your soul or not?"
Had it not been for her unusual constitution and the role she could play in a future plan, he would never have bothered speaking to her at all.
Did she truly believe she possessed the right to negotiate?
The comparison amused him. She was not Nina. She had none of Nina’s worth.
Lina’s hands trembled. The horrors of Sin Beast City flooded her mind.
Then came thoughts of Nina.
The humiliation. The hatred. The resentment that had consumed her every waking moment.
At last, she clenched her teeth.
"I..." Her voice nearly broke. "I accept."
Far beneath the ancient seal imprisoning him, Thraxxis smiled.
"Excellent. Then I shall grant you a contract. From this moment onward, you belong to me."
A dark mark suddenly appeared on Lina’s forehead.
The black symbol glowed briefly before sinking beneath her skin and disappearing.
Warm power surged through her body. The constant pain in her limbs began to fade. The aches tormenting her weakened rapidly.
She moved her arms and legs in disbelief. They responded normally. The injuries that had crippled her were gone.
Joy flooded her face.
"Thank you, Beast God."
"Good." The voice remained indifferent. "Now begin your first task. Complete it, and your freedom will follow."
Lina swallowed nervously. "What task?"
The moment the question left her lips, another figure appeared inside the dungeon.
The newcomer was male. His skin carried a sickly bluish tint. His features were twisted and unsettling. Everything about him radiated something unnatural.
The god’s voice rang out once more.
"Bear his offspring."
The command fell like a sentence.
Then silence reclaimed the dungeon.
The male began walking toward her. Lina dug her nails into her palms until they drew blood. Every instinct screamed at her to resist.
But she did not move.
Hatred blazed inside her eyes.
She had to escape. She had to survive. She had to find Nina. And she had to make her suffer.
Before long, disturbing sounds echoed through the darkness of the prison.

Meanwhile, far away from Sin Beast City, Nina and her companions continued their journey at a leisurely pace.
As evening approached, they selected a scenic location and made camp for the night.
At some point, Lex quietly slipped away from the group. Not long afterward, he returned. A trace of excitement danced in his eyes as he approached Nina.
Gently taking her hand, he smiled.
"Nina, I want to show you something. It’s very close. Just nearby."
Ever since recovering, he had fallen back into his clingy habits.
Whenever an opportunity appeared, he remained at Nina’s side.
Every day he dressed with painstaking care, hoping to catch her attention.
In truth, he was doing everything possible to move his position in her heart forward as quickly as he could.
Nina glanced at him curiously.
There was nothing pressing to deal with at the moment.
"Alright." The answer came easily.
The smile on Lex’s face instantly brightened.
Delighted, he took her hand and led her away from camp, eager to show her the surprise he had prepared.
