Chapter 161 Painting
Chapter 161 Painting
It was almost noon and Jiang Man had been absent-minded all day.
"Sister-in-law." A familiar voice sounded. Jiang Man raised her head in confusion, only to see Chen Hao standing in front of her with a smile on his face. The scar on his head did not affect his handsomeness.
"Why are you here?" Jiang Man stood up.
"You saved me, and my mother said she wanted to invite you to dinner at her home." Chen Hao said casually.
Jiang Man lowered his head. Home? Could it be the Hongmen Banquet?
She was about to refuse when Chen Hao interrupted her, "Don't refuse, don't worry, my dad is not at home."
Hearing this, Jiang Man nodded and said, "Okay then."
Inside Su's house
Chen Mei welcomed Jiang Man with a smile on her face.
Jiang Man responded with a polite smile. The two sat side by side, casually looking for topics to talk about. The atmosphere was quite harmonious.
Only Chen Hao, who had brought her here, was nowhere to be seen.
"Where did Chen Hao go?" Jiang Man asked casually.
"Probably in the back garden," Chen Mei replied. "He loves painting there. It's his little private world."
Jiang Man nodded when he heard this, and was secretly surprised that Chen Hao had such a literary and artistic side.
"I'll go see how the soup is cooking in the kitchen. Manman, you can just walk around." Chen Mei looked at Jiang Man gently, then lowered her head and spoke softly.
"Okay." Jiang Man nodded with a smile.
After Chen Mei left, Jiang Man felt bored and decided to go to the back garden to see what Chen Hao was painting.
There is an artificial lake in the center of the back garden, and there is a pavilion in the lake. Chen Hao is sitting on a stone bench in the pavilion, holding a paintbrush and concentrating on sketching the lines.
Jiang Man quietly leaned against the tree beside the pavilion, watching Chen Hao paint. The sunlight shone through the gaps in the leaves onto his body, adding a touch of mystery to him.
"Sister-in-law, why are you here?" Chen Hao looked up inadvertently and found Jiang Man not far away.
Jiang Man was stunned, then scratched his head and said a little embarrassedly: "I heard that you were painting, so I came to take a look out of curiosity."
"Oh? Are you here to peek at my paintings?" Chen Hao teased.
Jiang Man widened his eyes. Although he knew that Chen Hao was always frivolous, he always felt that he was a little different today.
"Stop joking." She took a step closer and looked at Chen Hao's painting carefully.
It was a very simple painting, with a girl facing away from the viewer. Jiang Man asked curiously, "Who is this girl?"
Chen Hao replied calmly, "A friend."
"A girl you like, right?" Jiang Man asked excitedly, "Aren't you always a playboy and never show mercy?"
Chen Hao raised his eyebrows and retorted, "I'd rather die under a flower than be a ghost. But unfortunately, I haven't met the flower that can make my heart flutter yet."
When Jiang Man heard this, he was speechless for a moment.
She glanced at Chen Hao, coughed twice, and changed the subject: "I think it's almost time for dinner."
Chen Hao nodded, returned to his usual nonchalant self, and whistled at her.
Jiang Man glared at him, secretly thinking that Chen Hao seemed more frivolous than usual today.
The two returned to Su's house together.
Su Heng sat upright in the middle of the living room, looking at the two people who came in talking and laughing with a deep gaze.
There was a gleam in his eyes as he looked at Jiang Man thoughtfully.
"Why are you here too?" Jiang Man looked at Su Heng and asked with a smile.
"Why can't I come?" Su Heng's answer was not as friendly as usual.
Anyone could sense the indifference in his eyes.
Jiang Man was stunned, not knowing why he suddenly became so cold.
"I'm back, Manman. Chen Hao is not good at drawing, so he must have made a lot of jokes, right?" Chen Mei said meaningfully.
Hearing this, Chen Hao turned around and looked at his mother deeply. He found that the mother who had once been submissive had become a person he didn't recognize.
"Drawing?" Su Heng repeated this sentence with a hint of inquiry in his tone.
Jiang Man didn't catch the hidden meaning in Chen Mei's words and just politely replied, "It's pretty good. But I don't know much about painting, so I can't tell what it's all about."
"It's okay, it's okay. Manman, come and have a bowl of soup. I really want to thank you for sending the drunk Chen Hao home the night before last. Otherwise, if this matter were to get out, Chen Hao would definitely be scolded by his father." Chen Mei enthusiastically scooped a bowl of chicken soup and handed it to Jiang Man.
Jiang Man took the chicken soup and looked at Chen Hao in confusion.
Chen Hao walked up to her and explained in a low voice: "In order not to worry Mom, I said those injuries were caused by being drunk."
Jiang Man nodded, and said, not quite understanding, "I see."
She took a sip of chicken soup and pursed her lips.
Suddenly, a noise broke the silence. Jiang Man turned around in confusion, only to see Su Heng staring at her expressionlessly.
She touched her face, thinking there was something dirty on it.
"Aheng, you should have a bowl of soup too." Chen Mei greeted him warmly.
"No need." Su Heng stood up. "I have something else to do. I'll leave first."
After saying that, he walked away quickly. Jiang Man was about to get up and leave with him, but her steps stopped. She felt that after all, she had been invited to dinner, so she had to finish the meal before leaving.
So she sat back in her original seat, trying not to embarrass Chen Hao.
However, the meal was tasteless.
After dinner, Chen Hao took Jiang Man away from Su's house.
Chen Mei stared at their backs, calculating secretly. She knew better than anyone that Chen Hao had no competitive spirit. But she refused to accept this. She had endured this for so many years, and her son had suffered with her. Now that the hard times were finally over, Chen Hao had no fighting spirit. How could this be?
The only way is to use Jiang Man.
After Jiang Man returned to the company, she was busy as usual. When she learned from Xiao Zheng that Mr. Su had returned to the company early, she was secretly happy.
"Jiang Man." Manager Lin's voice suddenly sounded.
Jiang Man responded: "What is it, manager?"
"Mr. Lu is looking for you." Manager Lin said briefly.
"Mr. Lu?" Jiang Man frowned and thought. Why did he come after yesterday's incident?
"Well, he's in the president's office right now." Manager Lin looked troubled. "The president's tone didn't seem very good."
"I understand." Jiang Man nodded slightly, then turned and walked into the elevator, going directly to the 28th floor.
Arriving at the president's office, she took a deep breath and gently knocked on the door.
"Come in." A cold response came from inside the door.
Jiang Man pushed open the door and saw Su Heng leaning on a chair with Lu Ziyin sitting next to him.
"I heard that you met with Mr. Lu privately yesterday?" Su Heng tapped lightly on the table with his index finger.
Jiang Man glanced at Lu Ziyin, admitted it frankly, and nodded.
