Chapter 203: Inexplicable Lies
Chapter 203: Inexplicable Lies
After finally making it to the weekend, Zhong Yunxing, who had been busy for a week, could finally go back to his home and have a good rest.
He took a quick shower, got dressed and was about to sit down and drink some tea, but before his butt touched the sofa, his cell phone rang.
Zhong Yunxing picked up the phone and saw that it was a call from Zhong Yunsheng. His heart skipped a beat and an ominous premonition came to his mind.
"Brother, our mom fell! She accidentally fell when she was helping dad get up from bed. It looks like she fell pretty badly. Come over here quickly, let's take mom to the hospital!"
Zhong Yunxing quickly put on his clothes while briefly narrating the whole story to Darong, who then quickly followed Zhong Yunxing out of the house.
Mother Zhong needed to be hospitalized because her right side hit the ground and three ribs were fractured. After Zhong Yunxing sent Darong home in the middle of the night, he returned to the hospital to take care of Mother Zhong.
The next morning, Darong called Ruyi and told her the news that Mother Zhong was injured.
"Ah? Is the injury serious?" Ruyi was just about to go out for work. After receiving the call, she asked about Zhong's mother's condition with great concern.
"The ribs are broken and she needs to be hospitalized. Go to the hospital to see grandma at noon or in the evening."
"okay, I get it."
After Darong gave Ruyi instructions, she took breakfast and took a taxi to the hospital.
Because of the sudden injury and hospitalization of Mother Zhong, the work and life of several children were disrupted again. Zhong Yunxing had to take care of Father Zhong at home, and Zhong Yunsheng went to help him after get off work.
Darong and Wenying take turns to take care of Mother Zhong. Xiaoping also often goes to the hospital to take over the shifts of her sisters-in-law and they share the responsibility of taking care of the elderly.
After visiting Zhong's mother on the first day, Wu Meifeng also applied for hospitalization for herself, without specifying what illness she had. Anyway, not only could she not come this time, but even Zhong Yunhong would have to be too busy taking care of her.
"My second sister-in-law is really great. She can be hospitalized as soon as she is told. I have to find time to go see her." Wenying said with a sneer as she peeled an apple and followed Darong who came to take over the shift.
Mother Zhong lay on the hospital bed with her eyes closed, resting silently. It was unclear whether she was really asleep.
"You have to go anyway, after all, they are sisters-in-law." Darong smiled helplessly.
Although everyone felt that Wu Meifeng's illness came too suddenly, they were all family after all, so they still had to save face and could only find ways to find time to visit her in the hospital.
"You go back and have a rest. I'll keep an eye on you at night." Darong said to Wenying.
Wenying saw that Mrs. Zhong was still lying there with her eyes closed, so she didn't call her and handed the peeled apple to Darong.
"Okay, sister-in-law, you'll have to trouble yourself. I may have to come late tomorrow morning to replace you. Xiangrui's teacher asked me to go over there in the morning." Wenying said as she got up and packed her things.
"Is it about the college entrance examination? Xiangrui's grades are so good, the teacher must take it seriously."
Xiangrui has just been promoted to the third year of high school and was directly admitted to the key class of the Experimental Middle School. Every time Wenying mentions Xiangrui, her heart is filled with pride.
"That should be the case. Xiangrui is under a lot of pressure right now, and I'm so tired for the child." Wenying answered Darong happily.
Xiangrui from Zhong Yunsheng's family and Miaomiao from Zhong Yunping's family are both children with excellent academic performance and have been at the top of their schools since childhood.
Especially when Miaomiao was in middle school, she was admitted to the key middle school in the city, so Xiaoping has been renting a house in the city to accompany her in her studies for the past two years.
After Wenying left, Darong simply packed up the things in the ward and sat in the accompanying chair to rest.
Since Mother Zhong's injuries were not very serious, the process of accompanying her was actually more of a waste of time. She could get up and go to the bathroom by herself, and could eat and drink while leaning on the hospital bed, so the task of taking care of her was not too tiring.
After finishing the last bottle of fluid at night, Darong could sleep a full night lying in the accompanying chair.
The next morning, Darong went to the cafeteria to buy breakfast for Mother Zhong. While she was eating, several uncles from Dacheng came to the hospital to visit the injured Mother Zhong.
Today's road traffic is no longer what it was more than 20 years ago. It takes less than an hour for several uncles to drive from Dacheng to the southern suburbs.
Seeing that all the uncles had arrived, Darong quickly cleaned up the breakfast that Mrs. Zhong had finished, and then was busy pouring water and moving seats for the uncles, very enthusiastically.
Mother Zhong sat on the hospital bed and chatted with the brothers.
"My eldest brother is the only one at home with this car, so we came here first. My eldest sister said she and her brother-in-law will come to see you later."
The uncle who was speaking was the youngest brother of Zhong's mother, only four years older than Zhong Yunxing. It was he who had a fight with Zhong Yunxing when they were children and was chased around the yard by my mother.
"Don't let your sister run away. My grandson is still young. I'm fine. My son and daughter-in-law are taking good care of me."
Mother Zhong had a splint on her waist and was leaning against the bed with one hand on the edge.
"Yes, your children are all filial, so we are relieved. There are cafeterias in hospitals now, so it is convenient to eat."
"They are all filial. The eldest and third children are with us every day, and the second child prepares meals and brings them to us. My children are all doing well."
As soon as Mother Zhong finished speaking, Darong instantly became furious. It was obvious that she and Wenying spent money to buy her meals every day, but it was Wu Meifeng who prepared the meals and delivered them to her. Mother Zhong was really good at lying.
Darong didn't say anything either. After all, she was in front of so many uncles, so she still took Mother Zhong's face into consideration. She just stood by the windowsill with her head down and said nothing.
Mother Zhong never looked at Darong until all the uncles left. Then she glanced in Darong's direction with a guilty look on her face.
Darong still had a peaceful smile on her face as she sent her uncles away and then sat in the accompanying chair to look at her phone.
Mother Zhong had no idea what Darong was thinking, and she didn't dare say anything more. She just lay on the bed and stared at the ceiling in a daze. Neither the mother-in-law nor the daughter-in-law spoke. The quiet atmosphere in the ward was so awkward that it made people feel suffocated.
Wenying was held back by some things and after she called Darong, she did not come to take over. Darong did not care about it and just let Wenying go about her own business while she continued to accompany Mother Zhong in the ward.
Time passed slowly. At lunch time, family members from other wards came back with their meals one after another. Only Darong continued to lie in the accompanying chair silently, looking at her phone.
